“great weekend ***But very basic”
Reviewed 23 July 2013

We had a friendly and enjoyable weekend here BUT!!! The pool needs to be cleaned and swept regularly I enjoyed the pool as it was so hot but didn't dare swallow the water .... I think this could be one of the greatest sites in Britain but it needs to have the facilities repaired and the main toilet block needs to have the floors more regularly cleaned and the showers fitted with a regulator. The children's swings are loose at the top and the children's games room needs some decent games .and the pool area needs some seating ... the tennis court is very dangerous loose sharp stones needs clearing out the wildlife is great though from tiny lizards rabbits and what ever ate the remainder of our bbq left out overnight the staff seem helpful and friendly but really need to pull their fingers out about sorting this lovely spot out . 1. sweep the pool and clean all the leaves and bugs out EVERYDAY 2. clean the toilets and showers out in the reception block with some hard elbow grease and re-grout the tiles . im hoping when we go back this has all been done as the laid back atmosphere was wonderful ...

Room Tip: camp away from the lakes as the mossies got us good and proper ...

The site wsa nice and flat with plenty of trees for shade. The was was a reasonable size but poory stocked. The toilet and shower facilities were adequate but need upgrading. It is in a good location about 5 miutes by car into Poole. On the whole we enjoyed our stay.

I haven't been camping for over 30 years and this was a great experience. Helpful staff, great facilities, happy campers. Phones were charged for free, ice packs frozen, showers were hot, electricity available, secluded areas to camp in. Weather was very nice which I'm sure helped. It was still camping, not a hotel, but was excellent.

Stopped over the bank holiday weekend with 2 adults & 2 kids, it is great, kids did what kids are meant to do, played in woods, made friends and got grubby, lovely chilled weekend, can pratically set up where you like, loads of nooks and hideaways to choose from. Showers and toilets bit dated but very clean and always hot water. Staff are helpful but very laid back. Maybe a little expensive as same as top notch site. Would defo go back with a group of us.

I visited for 2 nights with my husband and 2 sons (4 and 6) just to try out our new tent. It was very quiet and had one sunny day and one light rainy day- so no experience of flooding thank goodness. The place is ok and has some advantages but probably more disadvantages. On the plus side the setting is beautiful, very peaceful and relaxed atmosphere, great location, (highly reccomend Farmer Palmers if you have kids, just 10 mins away), and stuff for kids to do. However, the shower block is very dated - it is useable but having seen some top quality campsites recently it feels dowdy, chilly and stuck in the 70's. It did not bother me but what a shame they haven't updated it. The washing up area is under cover outdoors and just 3 sinks, so no surfaces to put your stuff on. Useable and clean but needs a rethink. There was no one around for most of the stay although there is a number to call if you need them. We noticed hundreds of giant ants around the shop, thankfully only found one in the tent, again, didn't bother me but why not get this dealt with? there is a pool but it was closed. having looked at it it is small and was filthy, I presume they clean it before opening next week?? There is a tennis court which we used but again is run down with loose gravel, very uneven surface and so is only for mucking about on, and a very damaged fence. Good that it is free though. The play area is wooden so fits in with the natural setting and fantastic at first glance. But it needs re-doing as the wood is totally rotten, the bridge has come off and the chain bridge came away whilst my son was on it - thank goodness it wasn't the swing! Its worth remembering if you are fairly novice campers that because of all the trees, the gnats come out early evening and the birds start singing at 4.30am ish. It sounds beautiful but will wake up your youngsters which no mum wants!
All in all, if they reinvested their money to do it up I would gladly return and pay more than we did (quite cheap). Until they do this I won't be going back. This really could be a top quality campsite and probably was in the 70's but has become neglected and shoddy.

Room Tip: Go to Shamba instead!

Stayed here over the May bank holiday and had a wonderful time with my family and friends. There's a lovely relaxed and friendly feel to the site with lots of nice walks and rides nearby to enjoy.
The facilities we used were clean and well maintained with hot water always available when needed (I rise late!).
Thoroughly recommend the site to proper campers :)
