Had a lovely meal here on Friday 8th, second sitting. Local oysters whilst browsing menus, scallops/snails for starters then Dover sole/skate wing for mains. Lovely service and great food. The #1 rating continues to be valid... Thank you!

Sometimes you think the reviews on TA exaggerate. Not in the case of The Guildhall Tavern. The food was absolutely wonderful. The Turbot off the specials board was terrific. My wife had the goats' cheese and the rack of lamb. Both really good choices. The house wine was more than drinkable and the service was faultless. And a great buzz about the place. Pity parking is not easy. When the bill came it was sub £80 so good value.

First class meal, first class service, very friendly owners and a great atmosphere in a bright, airy, full restaurant. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. Will definitely return if in Poole.

Once again were lucky enough to have lunch in this lovely restaurant. Food was delicious - as always - & service second to none. Severine & Frederick were welcoming - as ever - anyone would think we were regular weekly diners - I wish! Would recommend it unreservedly.

We have been visiting the Guildhall Tavern for some years now. It never ever disappoints. It was as good as ever when we visited on the day of their re-opening. Despite its rather English sounding name the owners and staff are all French people which adds that extra little touch. The fact that this restaurant is rated Trip Advisor's No 1 out of hundreds of other eating places in Poole and Bournemouth speaks for itself.

It is not cheap, but it is very good value indeed, the portions are substantial, the choices of dish on the menu is truly wonderful and there are little extras such as olives and unlimited bread, all at no cost. They also do a nice looking table d'hote menu which seems very good value indeed, particularly at lunchtimes.

Whilst it is a seafood restaurant primarily, the fillet steak on the next table looked to be a very nice one, so perhaps next time!

I had scallops in a lovely cheese sauce, and my wife the monkfish, very rich, but quite superb. I was tempted to have the lobster, but could not see anyone having it so could not assess the size! I am sure it would have been really good.

Our starters and puddings were also great although after a week I cannot now quite remember what we had. The wine list is also very good with even the house wines being excellent and from a well known French maker.

Another Trip Advisor reviewer made a slightly adverse comment recently about the owners taking a holiday in the main holiday season. Well, my view is that as a family with young children why shouldn't they. Far better that they close for a short while than put in a temporary chef who could all too easily let the standards go down, but with people still paying for the higher standards they have come to expect. We prefer to have the chef owner in the kitchen for EVERY meal, and his lovely wife looking after front of house to the standard she always does. The price of this restaurant being closed on Sunday and Monday, and an occasional holiday is well worth accepting.

One can now sit in the outside courtyard to eat in what used to be their small carpark, but we did not avail ourselves of this option in case some wretched smokers were going to be seated nearby!

If only we lived rather closer we could make even more regular visits to the Guildhall Tavern.
