Our immediate impression on arrival was that we had made a big mistake in renting The Old Tavern because the immediate surroundings are most unfortunate. I recommend you look on street view to see for yourself. That being said, it is conveniently located for easy access to pubs, restaurants, shops and the Quay. It was noisy on Friday and Saturday evening with much shouting in the street outside.
However, as soon as we stepped inside we were greeted by the comfortable accommodation. Inside it is just as represented on the agent's photographs. Good quality fixtures and fittings, very comfy beds with fresh white bed linen and plenty of soft towels. The top floor bedroom has steeply sloping ceilings so quite a challenge for anyone of normal height or above. Some really thoughtful touches make it a pleasant stay eg. hair dryers in both main bedrooms, tissues in bedrooms.
The garden is stark and more like a prison exercise yard - artificial grass, high bare red brick walls and no plants. No usable outdoor furniture ( just two chairs covered in seagull guano)
In terms of recommending to a friend it is difficult to call - I would recommend the house but definitely not the area.
