Great hotel. Brilliant service. Rooms are very clean and appear to have been recently updated. Evening meal was mostly excellent, few little issues with items such as the greasy deep fried kale and seabass swimming in butter. Breakfast was superb. Great quality and good selection. A lovely stay.

We stayed two nights here bed & breakfast. We had a great room overlooking the grounds at the back, plenty of space, huge bed, TV, tea tray, hairdryer etc, very comfortable. All the staff were very friendly and it felt very relaxing. We had our evening meal in the restaurant one night - lovely food & great value at £15 for 2 courses. The buffet breakfast was good with plenty of choice. We used the spa pool (quite small but good for a pre-dinner/breakfast swim) and there is a jacuzzi and saunas in male/female changing rooms, big fluffy towels provided at the desk. Darlington town is an easy walk from the hotel and there are several good restaurants there too.

Room Tip: Watch the bunnies on the lawn from the rooms at the back (we had 329)

Stayed for one night and that was too many. The whole place is shabby and needs a lick of paint and a good clean. The only good thing are the poor staff who have to work in such conditions.Dirty windows, worn carpets etc.

Check in so easy, Tania on reception so helpful, lovely room, beds extremely comfortable so a good nights sleep was had. Secure parking, plenty of room, although did not use the pool and spa facilities they looked to be very good. We only had breakfast but that was plentiful and of good quality, excellent choice of herbal teas for guests who prefer something different, hope to return very soon.

I have to say, the staff, and restaurant were excellent, the rooms and carpets could do with an upgrade, but everything is very clean, beds are comfy and the shower great. Plus use of the pool as a guest

We held our wedding at Blackwell on 2nd May, it was a perfect day for Marie and I thanks to the staff at the hotel. From originally booking the venue a year ago, up to our wedding day the wedding co ordinator was in touch regularly checking how plans were going. On the big day everything went like clockwork and a great time was had by all, nothing was a problem for any of the staff. A big thank you especially to Debs and Margaret from Marie and Dave Quickmire.
