Only stayed for the one night.
Staff were friendly and polite, food was good, choice of various three course evening meals. Good breakfast fresh and help yourself.
Unfortuately let down by the room.
The hotel boasts of being 17th century, I think we had an original mattress on the small double bed.
As soon as we sat on it, it hit the hard base of the bed. No support or spring in it at all.
We did not discover this until bedtime so not much we could do but suffer a sleepless night and aches and pains next day.
The other problem was the toilet. Once it had been flushed, it took about 20 minutes to fill the cistern before it would flush again. For two people this created an embarassing situtation.
Also we had to have our cases outside the room by 7.00am so the night porter could load them on the coach. As breakfast did not start on a bank holiday until 8.00am, this was not very convenient, as it ment getting up before 7.00am just to put the case out.
Shame none of the day staff can carry a case out.
You might say, carry it yourself, but most of the coach party were elderly and the brochure advertised cases taken to your room service.
This hotel was booked by our coach company, not by us.
Don't think we would want to go back there again.More
