Brilliant food, loads of veg to choose from, variety of sizes with large being extra large which is great. The yorkshire puddings are to die for they are beautiful. All you can eat buffet is brilliant aswel, you can choose from starters, mains, desserts and there is something for everyone.

“Not the village pub we anticipated”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

We live a few miles away and had never visited before so turned up at 5.30 to find that opening time was at 6. Returned undeterred to a warm welcome from behind the bar to be told that the 'all you can eat buffet at £8.95' was the only food option available. This applies Wednesday to Saturday. Every table in the pub, at least 40, were set for meals. There were no drinkers but the bar had a reasonable selection. The buffet was massive and set out in the room at the rear. Food was good and the service was friendly and efficient. However there was little atmosphere which was spoilt further by families with wandering children piling their plates and then seeing how much they could waste. Definitely not an experience to be repeated. More like a canteen than my idea of a village pub.

“Mostly excellent food and great variety”

This was our first time at the all you can eat buffet. I have read a real mixture of reviews and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were most welcoming. The starters were perfect. The choice of main courses was vast. I had some beef, liver, braising steak, mince and pork and ginger. The steak was ridiculously tough, but everything else was cooked to perfection. The desserts were beautiful; our favourite was the apple crumble. All of the food was very hot. We will be coming back.

“Good service - that's about it”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

We decided to come here for the £8.95 all you can eat buffet, which includes starters, mains and puddings; a good deal but I'm glad we didn't pay any more than that! The service was friendly and we were greeted and served on by wonderful, polite staff, however the food and atmosphere really let the whole experience down. Although there was a good selection of food, the quality was average and it was actually difficult to put the food on your plate due to the style of the buffet tables! As for the atmosphere, to say it was lacking would be an understatement, there was absolutely none and the whole experience felt very awkward unfortunately. The whole place could do with a lick of paint or two and the layout and toilets definitely need improvements made. Such a shame for a potentially lovely pub in such a nice area. However, I can say this place would be ideal for families with youngish children as they are relaxed about them walking around and there is a large selection of food.

“Soulless”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

This is quite possibly the strangest restaurant experience i've ever encountered! I booked to dine here at late notice and was told they do an all you can eat buffet for £8.95. Sounds good, thats until we sat down. Imagine an OAP's coach trip to a tacky Blackpool B&B/hotel. Imagine the 'canteen/restaurant' in that hotel...well its pretty much the same minus the sea and sand...

The place was in dire need of decoration. Old tables and chairs mixed with signs hanging from the ceiling (salad bar / 'taste of Italy' etc) along with tacky canvasses that don't blend in with the rest of the decor. I just get the feeling the management have simply given in. Saturday night should be booming but the "restaurant" was about a tenth full! The bar consisted of 4 local chavs and other than that, the place was lifeless!

The food by the way, although a large selection, was a large selection of very very average grub. For £8.95, its worth it i guess, it fills you up, but its not somewhere to take your other half for a romantic meal out! I'm so pleased i chose somewhere else for valentines, because it was on the shortlist!

For such a nice looking pub from the outside, it should be far more successful. The all you can eat buffet seems like an act of desperation to get custom in. The staff were very pleasant. Felt sorry for them they had to work in sure a lifeless place.

I hope one day, some money gets spent on it because it has the potential to be a fab country pub and restaurant! In all honesty, it was a real shame to see how run down this country pub was. Gordon Ramsay would have a field day here!
