“Ok hotel...forget about getting a sleep”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 via mobile

Average hotel, check in very lacklustre, staff don't seem to be on the ball. No information about breakfast times etc, which is a basic. No real strong warmth of welcome. Asked if my loyalty card would be credited with points as have had issues with Accor brand hotels before, and was not left with any real conviction that this would happen. Hotel clean bit confusing to get to your room, a few lifts to get to the room on the 3rd floor. Room basic, pillows are terrible inflexible sausage type. Overall clean yet basic.

Key problem - and to be fair the hotel have no control of this - is that the local town bells ring every quarter hour all through the night. It is very loud and charming at first but less so at 3 in the morning. Hopefully, town council could help with a reasonable curfew on the ding dong. Not a good thing to have visitors to your city shattered the next day as they will not be in a good space when it comes to recommending things.

Would be okay but for the noise, didn't attempt breakfast so can't comment on this.

Thank you for reviewing our hotel. I am sorry to hear you did not receive
our usual high standard of attention at reception which I will take up with the team. We have been in discussion with the council about market bells ringing after 11pm but have been informed they cannot alter this due to the cost involved. On a future visit if you would like alternate pillows please ask and we will arrange these for you. I hope you will return to the hotel very soon.

Great hotel right in the centre of Darlington.Room quality was excellent with modern fixtures and fittings. The Reception staff were first class and very helpful. The only downside was the Parking with very limited spaces and no real convenient options.

Thank you for completing a review of your recent visit. I am delighted you were so well accommodated by the reception staff and enjoyed your stay. There is a open air car park on St Cuthbert's Way when our parking is full, which is just a 5 minute walk along Priestgate and over the road. They only charge £2.50 for 24 hours parking. We hope to welcome you back to the hotel very soon .

We stayed here on our Wedding Night on 10th May - it was a bad bad choice.
We had told them we were checking in late, and arrived to find noone on reception. We waited outside in our wedding dress & suit and had to be let in by a guest!
Once the receptionist came out, he failed to even make small talk whilst we were filling out the paperwork, and made us feel very uncomfortable... he could have at least chatted to us about the obvious big day we'd had.
On opening the door to the Deluxe Suite, we found distasteful red LED lights around the room which made it feel rather seedy and imposing - not 'deluxe' as expected.
The room was a good size, but only had 1 x dressing gown - no use to us, and upon using the shower I found the drainage was horrendous, and so the bathroom floor began to flood almost immediately. This meant my husband couldn't even get a shower. It was too late to be calling a service engineer out, so we grinned and dealt with it.
When we decided to go to sleep, we found that the pillows and mattress were extremely hard, therefore lost a lot of sleep.
The only up side was a rather nice breakfast the morning after.
We definitely will not be returning, as this place has put a downer on what should have been the best night of our lives. We are an easily pleased couple but felt this place really needed something to be said.

Room Tip: Don't come here if you're looking to celebrate a special occassion.

Congratulations on your marriage.Thank you for reviewing your recent stay with us. I am so sorry that you did not enjoy all aspects of what should have followed from a most memorable occasion. Night staff are required to conduct security walks which would explain why they have to leave the desk. I will be taking the other comments up with those concerned as this was not acceptable. I would be delighted to discuss with you how we could accommodate you in the future if you can spare a small amount of time. Thank you and please contact me at the hotel.

We had our whole wedding here at the Kings Hotel and we couldnt of asked for a better service. It was the best day of our lifes and this was because of the outstanding work the hotel put in to do this for us. The hotel and staff were amazing. The food and accommendation was to the highest of standards. The day was relaxed and the hotel took care of every detail even to the finest of details from arrival to departure.
I can not thank the staff enough for making the perfect day for us.
Highly reccommend this hotel for any occasion.
Thank You King's Hotel.

If your arriving by car get there early as limited parking under the hotel.

Checked in very fast and told about all the places to eat and even happy hour in the bar.

The hotel is a little gem, very modern styling and clean everywhere.

My room was a good size with plenty of room for a city hotel, comfy bed, great blackout blinds, modern clean bright bathroom.

Room service is a real bargain i had to double read the prices it was that good, food is nice from room service to breakfast. Freshly made to order cooked breakfasts rather than buffet style.

The WiFi is awful if your using the free service, don't expect to watch any streaming services while your here using the free WiFi.

Apart from that i cant fault it, would stay again if i am ever up in the area again.
