havin g travelled from portsmouth and arriving at 10.15 pm for a funeral on 14th sept nothing was to much trouble. we had booked 3 rooms with other family members booked a futher 3. the gentleman on reception showed us to our rooms and then we all met in the bar.we hadnt eaten so the gentlemen set about russtling up something for us. we were only expecting sandwiches but imagine our surpise when he came out with beef stew and dumpling chips and fresh veg.which was out of this world and went down a treat.nothing was to much trouble.in morning some of us had full english breakfast for a small supplment which again was excellent also the continetal breakfast was more than enough with plenty to eat and drink .we then had to leave to go to funeral. some of us stayed two nights and all food and rooms were clean comfy and excellent. would highly recommend this hotel and its owners.

Needing a place to stay on the way back from Scotland we selected this place. On the edge of Teeside airport it appears to be the old officers mess. Strange and quirky is the only way to describe it. The rooms were fine and comfortable and it is one of the quietest spots I have stayed although that might be down to it's location.

Staff were friendly and it covered our needs. Great place to stay if you need a stop over but not for more than one night.

Had an overnight stay in this hotel with 4 other family members in 2 doubles and a single. All the rooms were clean & spacious with a very powerful hot shower. Beds were comfortable but television only had the 5 terrestrial channels, although this was not a problem as we were only in the room to sleep.

Welcome was warm and we did meet the dog who was sprawled out on a rug in reception. I can see why some people thought she was intimidating as she was quite big but like the receptionist said she is a real softie and likes nothing better than being made a fuss of.

The bar is reasonably priced although the choice of draught beers is limited, John Smiths and a lager. It also has a restaurant which we didn’t try.

Breakfast was basic, orange juice, cereals, yogurt, bread and crumpets for toasting, jams tea and coffee. A cooked breakfast was available at a small supplement.

Accommodation costs were reasonable and value for money. The Ritz it is not but we would certainly return.

I stopped there 0n 19/06/2012 Plenty of parking available, from the look of the area i really expected a bad experience but i was so wrong the lady on reception was very helpful explained things quickly and took me to the room promptly, room was very clean, Kettle and brew gear readily available, plenty of hot water en-suite bathroom with bath and shower over it, it was spotless so i had a great long soak in the bath ( normally i use as little as possible ) then watched tele and slept better there than i do at home, breakfast was available from 06.00 and was serve yourself with plenty available, I had a few coffees and yoghurt and toast with Jam but there was loads of other things available, food was available when i got there night before but i just wanted to rest and relax and hardly heard any noise, Very friendly helpful people,

Room Tip: no idea about other rooms i used room 39 was bright and clean,

We stayed here for two nights with our two kids aged 4 and 5 as we couldn't find availability where we wanted but the price of the family room at The Spa Hotel was what lured us in. Firstly, it is a little tricky to find and the fact that it is so close to the airport could be off putting but it is in fact very quiet and we didn't find this a problem. The building does look shabby but that didn't bother us. We did get a welcome and the lady at the desk was pleasant. Our room was very spacious and unlike other places that were offering to charge us for rubbish 'z beds' for the kids here they actually had proper beds. The room was tired and had a few suspect stains on the ceiling and carpet but it was very clean as was the bathroom. The breakfast was dire. We went into the breakfast room and there was one toaster with some plastic containers with one slice of bed and some cereals. There was a dribble of orange juice left and enough water in the hot drinks machine for two coffees. We waited a while and in the end my husband had to go poking about behind the counter to find some more bread to feed the kids. When i managed to grab someone to get some water for the coffee machine she seemed really put out. I was not a happy bunny! The other thing that some people have touched upon is the dog. There is a great big alsatian that seems to have free reign outside and has a bed in the reception area as well as a few obvious sleeping spots inside the hotel in the corridors. You can tell where these spots are because of all the dog hairs. I'm glad i don't have allergies and wouldn't recommend anyone with allergies to stay here. However, i do have a 5yr old who is terrified of dogs and having a great big alsation almost blocking the corridor that connects your room with the breakfast room and the exit isn't good. Being told that 'she's just a friendly lump' doesn't cut it either. It's a shame really because i was happy with the room and i would've been content with the breakfast had they actually bothered to provide enough or at least replenish every so often. If you just want a clean room and you're not too fussy, get to breakfast first thing then it would be good value for money.

Seeing there have been some mixed reviews I would just like to state that I found everything new and clean and lovely. The bathroom made me especially happy and the bed was very good. The personel was very friendly and obliging! Would definitely stay there again.
