“Comfortable stay”
Reviewed 7 September 2013

We had a comfortable & pleasant stay here for a night. Staff friendly and helpful. The breakfast was lovely especially the warm croissants! The room was very clean & spacious & bed comfy. Will definitely bear in mind if in the area again!

No air conditioning in room. Staff helpful and polite. Food good and not to expensive.(bottomless chips) was useful for hungry husband.
Disappointed about boarded panels in doors on the stairs where glass had not been replaced.

Had a great stay here. The bed was lovely and great to have a choice in pillows! Staff were lovely.

The only negative was breakfast. We waited for an hour for hot food was is not ideal considering check out was getting close ( pad not expected an hour wait), we only stopped for an early start on our way up north and we were hungry!

Other than that it was a great stay.

Very warm welcome by the reception staff set the tone for our 3 night stay. Rooms well presented and very clean. TV, hair dryer and tea and coffee making equipment all for a very reasonable price. Friendliness was continued in the Beefeater restaurant next door, so much so in fact, had a drink bought for us by our friendly waiter when he was off duty the next night.

Room Tip: Our room was at the front overlooking the car park and the main road but noticed no noise disturbanc...

Great location with supermarket, McD's etc nearby. Really clean rooms albeit the hairdryer only worked on cold. Very comfortable bed with freeview tv. Minimal traffic noise and nice beefeater on site. What really made the one night stay though was the super friendly staff. Recommended!

Our stay at the Darlington Premier Inn was every bit as good as we expected but it was enhanced by the staff. Their rapport with our 2 girls and their help finding things to do in the area was invaluable. Thank you to them all.

(Whisper it) I'm a big Premier Inn fan. I've always found that they do "exactly what it says on the tin" - and the Darlington site is no exception. I'd requested a family room, as even though my (autistic) son is chronologically an adult, developmentally he's still a child. When we arrived, the lovely, friendly women on reception asked what they could do to help, and spent time looking at my son's many railway photos on his i-phone! They also sorted out the all-important (for him) wi-fi access immediately.
Reaching our room, it was a good size, and as usual (in my experience) the bedroom and bathroom were sparklingly clean. The extra bed for my son had been made up, and there was even a choice of pillows (soft or hard). The room was air-conditioned, with individual temperature controls - plus thoughtfully, a fan had been supplied as well.
We ate dinner in the adjoining Beefeater restaurant and bar (owned by the same company as Premier Inn). The menu on offer was basically "pub grub" - but at an incredibly value-for-money price and served by super-friendly staff. Moving on to breakfast (which is extra, Premier Inns operating on a "room only" basis) - there is a truly excellent choice, such as one would expect from a high-class hotel. (In fact, we went on to a well-regarded hotel after our stopover in Darlington - and breakfast was disappointing in comparison).
Confession: I have to say that wherever I go in the UK, my first thought is always to look up Premier Inns, as they're ideal for our needs as a "disabled" family. Great value for money, with understanding staff. Cheesy, but I have to reiterate what my son says about Premier Inns (having seen the Lenny Henry ad - he likes Lenny because he's "smiley") - "Everything's Premier but the price".
Will certainly be seeing the inside of Premier Inns again on our travels around the UK. Darlington staff, please award yourselves 5 stars!
