On arriving the drive threw the industrial estate doesnt prepare you for the little touch of France this hotel appears to have.Booking in was a delight as after a long journey to find that you actually book in at the Bar was a pleasant surprise lol a nice glass of cool wine went down a treat and you can take drinks to your room!!! The actual apartments remind me of Butlins and could do with a freshen up decor wise and our room smelt of stale sweat...but all in all the sheets were clean and for the money it was ok..

The Campanile has a motel style layout whereby the reception and restaurant/bar are in one building and the hotel rooms are in another, and each hotel room has a door that opens to the outside world rather than in internal corridor.

Due to the price bracket this hotel falls into, I know it is inevitable that I will compare it to a Travelodge. On this occasion, I think the Campanile wins. Admittedly, it isn't as modern as most Travelodges, but it's not quite as basic either. This one had an onsite restaurant and bar, decent toiletries, additional pillows and blankets and a hairdryer in the room. Oh, and there was also lots of tea and coffee available. The room was of adequate size (smaller than typical Travelodge room) with TV, desk, wardrobe and chair.

The hotel was about 2 miles from the centre of Wakefield and easily accessible from the M1. There was plenty of on-site free parking and the staff we met were very courteous. Our room was at the back and looked over the canal. Despite the fact that the main road is visible, we couldn't hear a thing.

I would stay at this hotel again providing it was only for 1 or 2 nights. I see other people have commented on the lack of cleanliness and an excess of spiders, but I didn't have any issues like those! The room could have done with a lick of paint, but it was clean.

Stayed here over night with 3 friends. Was the most horrific "hotel" we have ever stayed in.

1- Spiders EVERYWHERE! - Outside room doors, staircases, in the rooms etc etc.

2- Window was broke - Probably how the spiders got in.

3- Bath hadn't been cleaned

4- Bedding torn & stained

5- Kettle hanging off the wall

6- Insufficient lighting

7- Scruffy rooms in general

8- Definatly not a hotel more of a Bates Motel!

We were all disappointed in the rooms & the grounds. We couldnt wait to leave the next day. Definatly would not stay here again, Or reccomend to anyone. (unless your a spider enthusiast).

Room Tip: Don't go!

We were situated at the back of the motel, top floor. This was a haven for spiders. Webs everywhere with spiders all over them. We had to dodge them walking up the stairs to our room. Our room window had a chunk of wood missing from it. the sheets were threadbare and the walls were paper thin. Would I stay again, definately not.

Hotel staff organised for us to collect key late as we had been stuck in traffic. The room was clean and the receptionist was fantastic. Unfortunately there was a stag do staying in the hotel the same night as us. They tried to break into my sisters room by kicking the door and hitting the window. they also set off the fire alarm at 3am. Staff at the hotel phoned the police and we were refunded the cost of the room without asking.
Overall, excellent staff, but bad experience.

I think I have submitted this once but lost it. Basic room with a comfortable bed, A real plus wa the shower which had excellent pressure. I had ordered a continental breakfast and this excellent plenty of choice very well presented. The only down side was a ver poor selection of beer in the bar. MOstly bottled Lager

I booked early and got a very good rate

The design looks like it belongs on a beach resort rather than in Wakefield. It's quite difficult to find and get too and you may feel like you've wandered into an industrial estate at first.
However, its a decent sleep if you need somewhere to simply bunk down, and the breakfast isn't bad.
