We were looking for a good staging point for the night and it served us well indeed. Good breakfast cooked while you wait. Ossett doesn't have much going for it but the Hotel is close to the M1. We were content to have stayed,

My impression is that the emphasis is on the bar and food: the rooms are secondary. Our booking had not been recorded and the establishment seems to be run with inadequate staffing.

The room was reasonable with plenty of hot water. In order to get to the breakfast area it is necessary to walk outside, provision of umbrellas would be helpful.

Our waitress at breakfast seemed to find it difficult to talk to us, simply standing by the table, as there was no menu we had to ask what was available. The scrambled eggs were very good 'no brown bread will white do'.

I think that the website is misleading and gives the impression of providing hotel service.

I have stayed here on more than one occasion and couldn't recommend it high enough. The staff are all friendly and welcoming. Nothing is too much trouble and the food is excellent. Keep an eye on the specials board but don't leave without having the fish and chips and the belly pork. Don't eat for a couple of days before going as the portions are very generous and you won't want to leave any. The company I work for has used this hotel for over 15 years and initially chose it for the convenient location. It says a lot about the quality the fact that the location is no longer as convenient but they still use the hotel...................................................................................

Very enjoyable stay. Easy to find. Good parking available. Easy check in, and nice welcome. Room is small but the building itself is so lovely, and the pub / restaurant is so Yorkshire. Lovely beers and great fun too. Will be back.

Found this place on the web and although I have passed close by did not know it existed.
Decided it to give it a try last weekend and we were very impressed - we will definitely be back. The food was all fresh, well cooked and presented and very reasonably priced.

Through work we usually stay at corporate hotels in this area - the food is always a bit naff in these places so as we are due to stay in Wakefield every week until the end of March we looked for somewhre that had great food. Through Trip Advisor we found this one and work agreed to let us stay there. We were not disapointed. This is totally different to what we are used to but its a large pub, which is always busy with people eating. No wonder, the food was excellent and the staff really lovely. Nothing too much trouble and we loved the ambiance. The rooms were clean and tidy and nice. I had two single beds in mine but again very clean and comfy. The room I had overlooked a main road which was very noisy and I can imagine if you had your windows open this would be a litte too noisy for me but I still had a good sleep. Breakfast was lovely and made to order. We are looking forward to coming back and sampling the food again. Thanks for making us two ladies very welcome.

Room Tip: Ask for one away from the road
