“Excellent base and very good value hotel”
Reviewed 25 June 2013

Stayed here for three nights to visit new Hepworth gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park which were both easily accessible and well worth visiting. We travelled by train from London and used public transport to get around which was very easy. Hotel is situated in a quiet location about 15 mins walk from main train station and is also on a bus route where there are frequent buses to the city centre. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was fine and the breakfast was excellent, Cooked to order which meant it tasted better than hot buffet breakfasts offered in many of the more expensive hotels. Definitely very good value for money and would stay here again.

Stayed here for one night on a business trip. Was in room 32 second floor. The hotel was very quiet and the receptionist who booked me in was extremely pleasant. Had one of the best breakfasts from a Premier Inn here, and I have stayed at loads. Observation point, there isn't a lift to the upper floors, didn't bother me but if you struggle ask for a ground floor room.
Would certainly recommend.

I chose this hotel because of it's central location between two days of sight-seeing, and the positive TripAdvisor reviews. It's set in beautiful parkland, very quiet and peaceful. The rooms were clean and ours had a lovely little balcony opening onto the surrounding woodland. Reception staff coped efficiently with our slightly rowdy group, and the on-site restaurant served great food both in the evening and a terrific breakfast in the morning.
Highly recommended.

First impressions were excellent - hotel is in a wooded area in the middle of Wakefield. Not enough disabled parking though, and no parking really near reception but apart from that I have no complaints. It was refreshing to hear staff clearly enjoying their jobs and working as a team. The breakfast (an additional £5.25 for continental all you can eat) and dinner were both excellent, couldn't fault them. When I arrived for the buffet the staff placed me as close as possible as I was on crutches. The room was clean apart from some stains on the carpet, It had TV, tea and coffee making faciities. Spacious bathroom with a good shower over. We had control over the heating in the room, extra pillows were provided of alternative firmness. We had an exceptional stay.

I had not planned to stay at this hotel. A trip to Wakefield had not panned out how I had envisioned, and I found myself parked on a side-street off Denby Dale Road at almost 22.00 thoroughly exhausted and miserable. It was either find somewhere to sleep for the night or a 2.5 hour drive home in the dark of night. I spotted this hotel and opted for the former.

The woman at reception when I staggered in was very sympathetic and friendly in that Yorkshire way that people from the south of England like me find so refreshing in contrast to what we get at home. The room was decent for what I had paid, very clean. A minor quibble about a tea stain on the carpet by where the kettle was, but hardly a deal-breaker. I was too tired to try out the pub attached to the hotel.

Leaving in the morning, the daylight revealed the beauty of the surrounding Thornes Park. Wakefield has some very pretty parts if one cares to investigate a bit. Sadly my timetable meant I had to leave without sampling them.

Visiting family with my wife and 2 children we had a family room 8. The room was fresh and wonderfully clean. The hotel is situated in the beautiful surroundings of Thornes Park.
The staff were very friendly and all of us had a great nights sleep.

Breakfast was served at the adjoining Eating Inn restaurant\bar.

Room Tip: Be careful on a weekend and check if they have any functions on as there maybe noise from those.
