Busy shop. Obviously satisfied customers. My fish and chips were hot and tasty. Nothing to complain about.

The fish and chips here are absolutely awful.a small piece of fish is wrapped in this huge wad of fried fat(batter).it absolutely overwhelms the fish.the mushy peas were good ,French fires very average .desert is soft serve ice cream or a very poor version of trifle.one can even supersize the haddock.i saw one gentleman polish off an entire plate of the supersize ,made me nauseated.it must have been 5000 calories.great place for a cardiologist to hang out .quite the worst fish and chips I have ever had.

Dear Lafayette
What a disappointing review of our Wakefield restaurant. Our 3 course senior meal priced at £7.80 is very popular with the senior trade throughout our five restaurants, including our traditional Yorkshire style trifle.
It has been widely recognised that Fish and Chips are the healthiest and most nutricious natural food within the takeaway catering industry. An average portion of Fish, Chips and mushy peas contain approximately 700 calories. Even our largest 12oz fish that we sell, eaten with chips would be less than 1600 calories!
Going back 50 years there were 80,000 Fish and Chip outlets in England, and no such thing as obesity in this country. In the modern era Fish and Chip outlets have diminished to 30,000 to be replaced by American and continental types of fast food outlets. Obesity is now becoming a problem in our country, something the Americans have struggled with for numerous years.
However, as with all such things in life, everything in moderation.
Best wishes
Caroline Murphy

Food always very nice whether you take it home or eat inside. restaurant always clean, good food portions too. Wetherby Whaler is also pretty cheap considering you are paying the extra to eat inside, have been at least fifteen or twenty times with family since it opened. reat value for money

I took a coach party here last week and the whole experience was outstanding. The staff were all very friendly and hard working. The restaurant offers a seniors set 3 course meal for £7.80, I am not a senior but as there were over 40 of us they allowed me to have the meal as well.

It started with either soup or fresh juice, followed with Haddock or Plaice with chips, bread and butter and a pot of tea. Then to finish a huge choice of desert.

The whole meal was lovely, the fish was not a small portion and you got plenty of crispy chips, the rice pudding with nutmeg was very rich and the tea was Yorkshire.

The interior of the restaurant was classy and very calming and you would not believe you were in an industrial complex surrounded with car garages.

Just one thing I would change about the place, that is not to call it the Wetherby Whaler at all their restaurants and just keep the Whaler name, i.e Wakefield Whaler, Guiseley Whaler etc. Just my little thought. This restaurant blows the likes of H.Ramsdens out of the water, lets just hope they stick to the core quality values. Thank You so much
