Writing this review on behalf of my husband and his friends who had the good fortune to stay here for a night while attending the local Stock Car racing.

He says "the welcome was very warm and the rooms of exceptional quality for the price we paid, the owners were very friendly as were the locals who we shared a few beers with after our evening of racing. We travel to Taunton frequently and will have no hesitation in using this establishment again. Thatchers Cider......superb!!!!!!"

We stayed for 1 night to break the journey back to Manchester. We had pre-booked a table, which is advisable as the restaurant was full on the night we stayed. The whole stay was excellent, the food was lovely, a warm welcome received on arrival & we all had a great sleep. We would have given a 5 rating for everything but the family room was not en-suite. We will definitely be looking to stay again the next time we are in the area

We were taken to the Pub by our friends who live nearby. We always go out for a meal when we meet once a year.
The Pub is more of an eating house than a pub. Sadly the food was not very appetising. My husband and I had lime & soda - the soda was flat and the lime not generous. I ordered scallops as my starter. They were rubbery. Three of us ordered one of the specials, lamb steaks on a bed of crushed garlic potatoes with cherry sauce. When it arrived the potatoes were not crushed and there was no hint of garlic. The waitress asked if the meal was OK. We mentioned the lack of garlic and that the new potatoes did not appear to be crushed. After a word with the chef she assured us that there was garlic butter somewhere and that the potatoes were crushed. We have all experienced garlic so we know very well what it tastes like! I did not like the way she argued with us.
We do not think we shall bother to visit again.
