“Exceptional service in tranquil surroundings”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 October 2013

I only spent one night here but would happily have spent longer. The service was highly professional, well informed, attentive but never intrusive. The room I had, the 'garden' room was superb: incredibly spacious with large windows, settee and large bed. The room had a spacious bathroom off it's own hallway with a large bath and anything else you could need. Water & fresh milk are provided. Both Dinner & breakfast were of a very good quality and a log fire provided a lovely atmosphere in the lounge area. Unfortunately the weather was very wet so it was not possible to enjoy the garden area but it looked very attractive nevertheless. The surroundings and service surpassed hotels I have stayed in with more 'stars'. No hesitation in recommending.

Room Tip: The garden room is very spacious and has a large bathroom and hall as well.

Just back from another great weekend away in Somerset. The Farthings is fast becoming the place to be in this area... I used to be able to just rock up on a Friday evening.... this last trip I had to book a few weeks in advance and the place was packed which is great to see. the bar and lounge was so inviting on arrival with fires blazing away in both... although there was a lady later in the evening who asked if it could be turned down??? the bar person just opened a window. Luckily I had booked a table as I had a friend joining me, and the meal was great see seperate review on thier restaurant page... again an overall great stay, everything just right, thank you again to everyone at The Farthings who make such getaway weekends all the more special.

Room Tip: Wifi is difficult due to the very thick old walls, but have found the front balcony rooms or one of...

My title is somewhat sarcastic but we did feel we were looked upon as commoners, NEVER judge a book........!
Basically the setting is wonderful and the grounds are lovely, nice to see the livestock of ducks, geese and guinea fowl running free.
The room (oak) was above average but the furniture was a little on the cheap side.
Usual facility's but we did have to ask for a hairdrier. There is a fridge on the landing with fresh milk which made the tea in China cup pleasurable in the morning this sweetened the night before.......see below!
We were on a break to relax and wanted to be grey and hide into the background. We looked into going to the local down the road for food but they stopped serving at 8! We tried the farthing for food as it was the only option their last table was 8.30! As i said we wanted to relax So we wanted no drama we plumped for the menu at the farthing...the food was vastly over priced we had the squid and if you rubbed it over the Sahara dessert you probably would have had less sand in it than this portion! That went back! Two hallibuts followed one dry as a dry thing one ok, no potatoes accompanied it as menu dictated .....that went back too! No water appeared either. The waiter/bar/front of house seemed to play hide and seek rather than deal with our problems. We went to bed and called it a day. We got the meal removed from our bill. Breakfast is not included and is £14 pp ...really?!?! We might return.

We (2 couples) stayed for one night en route to Devon. The accommodation was well appointed and the grounds were enhanced by a variety of strutting hens, geese, ducks and peacocks framed by fig trees in fruit for the kitchen. The evening meal was delicious and varied, freshly prepared using locally sourced ingredients and served in an efficient and friendly manner.

Breakfast was an added delight and the sausage, bacon and black pudding were delicious.

I hope we can stay again.

This was our first visit to this little country-house hotel in the peaceful village of Hatch Beauchamp, only 15 minutes from Taunton.
The hotel has a sort of friendly warmth with young, helpful staff and delightful country furnishings.
From the plump, soft pillows to the log fire in the lounge everything spoke of warmth and comfort and the communal fridge stocked with fresh milk and bottled water was a much appreciated convenience. One tip - we quickly ran out of tea bags so it wouldn't hurt to bring a few extra when you visit.
Outside, an assortment of exotic poultry, waterfowl and peacocks roam the well kept gardens.
We didn't try the dinner menu which looked a bit pricey for our pensioner's budget but the fresh-cooked breakfast was delicious and , as we have family in the area, we feel sure that we will make a return visit soon.

This was my third stay with my boyfriend at the Farthings hotel, it gets better every time. The rooms were very clean, comfortable and so elegantly decorated. During the day the atmosphere is very peaceful, we walked around the beautiful gardens and enjoyed some drinks outside. The food was so flavoursome and the service was very quick. It was great to see food served at the restaurant from their own gardens, you can really taste the difference! I would highly recommend the devil and angel ice cream for desert, it was different to any ice cream I have ever tasted and truly delicious! The staff was very friendly and attentive to our needs. I will surely be returning to the Farthings hotel!

We stayed three nights last week while we had work done on our lounge and must say it was a really delight to have found such a peaceful hotel full of west country charm. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, special thanks to the young breakfast girl for taking the time to talk to us for so long. The food is top class and local.
