Stayed for three days with car club friends and had a wonderful time. On arrival we were greeted by Mark who was very welcoming and helpful.
Our room was on top floor up some very steep stairs but well worth the climb. Fabulous room overlooking the garden.
The food over the three days was excellent. Interesting and delicious.
Thank you to all the staff for a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Top room is enormous. Very comfortable with a fabulous view of the garden

Dear Judy & Len

Very many thanks indeed for your review and for your lovely words. I think that we enjoyed hosting your event even more than you enjoyed experiencing it!

It was indeed jolly good fun and a real pleasure looking after the eminent motorists!

Best wishes, John & team

We were given a weekend here as a gift and it didnt disappoint. Lovely room overlooking the garden and very comfortable. Food was fantastic - couldn't fault it, but do be prepared for big bill! Very dog friendly.

Only criticism is that the information book in the room offers a 10% discount if you mention it, but apparently it only applies if you mention when eating, and doesn't apply if you mention it when paying!

We asked for a special lunch, and wow did we get it!!! We asked for Lobster, (in advance obviously) and sat in the garden in the sunshine and had lobster, prawns, home cured gravadlax and home cold smoked fresh salmon....the salad included raspberries and strawberries, leaves and avocado and mini tomatoes.....and I think we will have to have this lunch again!!!!!

I love the fact that if you phone and ask the chef will pretty much prepare anything you ask for - I know it costs a bit more but what a treat for special occasions.

I love this hotel and restaurant, individual, comfortable and amenable - they have not put a foot wrong when we have visited - wonderful.

Room Tip: All rooms are comfortable but the quirky ones apeal to us - one with a spiral staircase to the en su...

A lovely looking hotel with pretty frontage and gardens.Peacocks, geese and ducks to the rear gardens.Hotel seemed deserted on arrival but a very pleasant young man appeared and showed us to our room.Sofar so good -but then the problems started.
The room was not what i expected-it was not a master bedroom or twin beds as I stipulated. After much to-ing and fro-ing with the invisible "powers that be" and after threatening to "Go elsewhere"a master bedroom was found for us in the attic; a huge family room with two large sofas ; a walk in wardrobe and "ginormous" bed.A nice bathroom completed the package to our satisfaction although my wife thought it "Slightly tired-"and in need of a good deep clean--her words--not mine
The young staff--although thin on the ground-were very attentive and friendly but the big let down was the quality of the food; definitely not rosette standard. My steak although cooked well -or perhaps it was the soggy roasts--left an unacceptable puddle of fat in my juice. The rest of the following meals were a mixed bag. Why did I mention the word--"GREEDY ??" Well; any three star hotel that charges a minimum of £20 for house wine and £2 yes,two pounds per day for a newspaper deserves this accolade.Every hotel we have stayed in charges the paper price only--or is complementary.
A lovely hotel and the young few staff are let down by some food issues and parsimonious attitudes.
Continental breakfast is also poor--no cereal choice; no croissants and fruit choice is also rather poor--if not in season??? However the cooked breakfast is of high quality with all their locally sourced provisions.
A mixed bag but if you can get an offer and avoid the evening meal lottery--give it a whirl--but stipulate a master bed room andget it in writing?????

Room Tip: master bedrooms overlooking the gardens

We spent a couple of days here which was booked for us by our daughter and we enjoyed our break at the hotel. The staff are very welcoming and nothing was to much trouble for them we had one of the master bedrooms which was very comfortable with a large bed and a walk in shower and bath with views over the back garden the food on offer is superb and good value for money. Although the hotel is in a quiet location it is in a good position for touring the surrounding countryside.

Stopped for afternoon tea on a sunny afternoon which was perfect in the lovely garden. Went back for dinner 2 nights later. This place is a beautiful country house with attentive but relaxed service and great food. A lot of country house hotels are dusty and tired but not this one. It is fresh and bright but very comfortable. Loved the geese, peacocks and dogs too..We will be back.

Having recently spent two nights at The Farthings, I have mixed thoughts, although there were lots of positives. Attentive, friendly and helpful staff and a large, nicely furnished room. The Hotel is clean and it is clearly a well looked after hotel. Our evening meal was disappointing to be honest but I think that was really down to personal taste. However, the breakfast was superb. Although I certainly like a peaceful break away, this location just wasn't for me which is a shame as it does mean we will not be making a return visit. The Hotel also lacks a bit of life which I still think is possible to achieve in a quiet location. Oh and have a word with the landlord of the only pub in the village as you could really help each other and work alongside each other but not with him behind the bar.
