Like many other reviewers we stayed on a DB&B voucher and extended the stay to two nights.
Hatch Beauchamp is a pleasant village, with just the hotel and a pub for entertainment, plus some pleasant walks.
We were warmly greeted and show to a superior room on the front with a small balcony. (Very handy for watching the cricket on the village pitch just over the road). The room was very comfortable with just about all you need. Comfy bed, tea and coffee making, with fresh milk available in the fridge just down the corridor as well as complimentary bottled water. Etc.etc.
Dinner was very good with the three bird roast well worth a mention. Breakfast did not disappoint, all local produce, freshly cooked and very tasty.
The bar was small but had a reasonable range of drinks and was comfortable.
The gardens are a delight, at the front a real country style garden with tables and chairs and at the back views of the livestock, chickens, ducks, geese and some pigs. Again tables and chairs made this a pleasant place to sit.
All in all a good experience and on a voucher it was excellent value for money.
I would stay here again if in the area.

We booked this trip using a voucher and were not disappointed in any way whatsoever!! The room was pleasantly furnished in a country sort of way which is what we expected. The food was outstanding!!! 5 course tasting menu which was faultless!!! The staff were friendly and helpful. We had a room overlooking the garden at the back of the hotel and spent some time watching the antics of the ducks, hens, goslings and peacocks. The hotel is in a good location for Taunton and surrounding area, the village itself is quiet and peaceful. This trip was excellent value for money and we would hope to go again.

Room Tip: there are ground floor rooms available attached to the hotel, but not in the main building.

We stayed for one night celebrating a 94th birthday. We received 5 star service, food and accommodation. A lovely peaceful setting. We were looked after by Mark who was first class a real credit to this hotel. We will be back. Gardens are lovely surrounding the hotel, peacock and hens free of charge. Forget your five star buffet breakfast hotels with spar and pool if you want to recharge then this is the place to go. Nice walks from the front door and yet just of the main road. So many good places to visit near by. Our thanks again to the staff for a wonderful weekend.

Room Tip: go for a master bedroom.

Had a great stay at Farthings. Booked the room and meal deal plus a bottle of bubblie in the room. On arrival got shown to the garden cottage - kitchen, lounge and conservatory. After eventually disposing of the very nice champagne, whilst watching the peacocks and Guinea fowl in the garden, we made our way to the restaurant were we had a great meal. After a good nights sleep in a very comfy bed, the morning brought a fine cooked breakfast. On check-out they then reduced the cost of the champagne as the cost had gone down, which was nice.
Would go again without a doubt.

I spent a night here. I wasn't too comfortable with the location of the hotel. it's completely isolated from the city centre in Taunton. I didn't fancy making heat using the traditional fire place with wood. Not my kind of place.

Well, so sorry you did not enjoy the country environment. We are infact a Country House Hotel, we have lovely walks around here, beautiful countryside to explore, lots of lovely gardens to visit and especially recommended National properties too, all this and within easy reach of the Jurassic Coast such as West-Bay Bridport, Lyme Regis and Sidmouth.

Taunton it's self if the Market Town of Somerset, really not much there and honestly, you did not miss anything to speak of. The nearest cities are Bristol and Exeter. If you are a Country lover, we are the ideal spot, if not, then stick to London or Manchester.

Just spent 1 night at this lovely hotel in superior room. Could not fault it or the most friendliest of staff and with great food. Only 12 bedrooms so if you are looking for a small hotel in the area this could be the one for you .Gardens are lovely plenty of seating with Ducks Chickens Geese and even Peacocks roaming around. We would certainly visit again if in the area. .

Stayed here on a Travelzoo DB&B voucher. Had to upgrade as no Travelzoo rooms apparently available. However, we were put into a lovely room at the front of the hotel with its own little balcony overlooking the village. Actually I was glad not to be in the cheaper rooms at the back of the hotel, as they overlook the lovely garden which contains a large selection of geese, ducks, peacocks etc - apparently they were very noisy at 5am!
Mark deserves special mention as he was very welcoming and helpful. However, the bar staff need to know that it is not acceptable to put a whole bottle of tonic into a customer's gin without asking first - for those of us who don't like to drown their drink! Overall a very pleasant stay.
