A lovely little Hotel with delightful staff, who were helpful in every respect! Love the Smeg Fridge on the Landing for cold milk for your morning tea on the balcony of your room! so much nicer than UHT tubs in a room that most hotels use! After booking the manager tried to sort out a spot for the Helicopter to land which really was nice of him, regret that not possible this time but he could not have done more to try to make it so.

Breakfast was delicious and the room was lovely, complete with Teddy!

Room Tip: The front room with a balcony gets the morning sun! I was lucky, but would request next time!

My husband and I had his birthday dinner at Farthings. The meal was
delicious - no better steak anywhere!!
The service was exceptional - charming young people, nothing was too much trouble.
Heard other people praising the staff and food - well done Farthings.

When we first arrived and parked around the side of the hotel the first impression was not good as the smell was somewhat rustic (presumable due to the amount of wildlife to the rear of the property. However, we quickly got over that as the building itself was quite charming and the staff very welcoming. We did not notice the smell after that first few moments of arrival. Our room (Sandlewood?) was fairly large and had a nice view over the rear garden. The bed was a bit disappointing - too soft and not flat but was otherwise ok (we both slept fine anyway). Had a couple of drinks in the garden, met the Dogs, a Peacock (and Peahen), plus other sundry Ducks, Geese, Guinea Fowl etc and then had an excellent meal in the restaurant. The breakfast next morning was good too (we went for the full English option). All the meat and eggs etc were local if not sourced from the hotel itself. Overall, a nice place for a quick stopover.

We stayed 1 night at the Farthings Hotel and wished we had booked for longer. The Hotel was everything we had hoped for and more. The Garden Room was gorgeous! And we had no idea when we booked how good the food was going to be. Dinner was delicious and breakfast extra special (what fabulous bacon!) There were so many things that made our stay special: fresh milk and chilled bottles of water in the fridge, the beautiful gardens, the peacock tapping on the window while we had breakfast, the fresh produce from the garden, the attentive service and the lovely village setting – we could even see cricket being played on the village green while we had dinner! Excellent and well worth 5 stars.

Room Tip: Superior Double was incredibly spacious

So pleased you enjoyed, sorry you did not dine with us - I am sure that if you ask for a 1-course meal or even a starter and pudding, you would have found the team quite accommodating. Maybe next time?

A beautiful, idyllic country hotel.Homely and peaceful surroundings with picturesque gardens.quirky..... Dogs, chickens, geese and guinea fowl on the grounds didn't bother us found it amusing ....
Owner and all staff were very attentive and showed high customer service ...
Did not have dinner in the evening as was looking for something less substantial. The menu looked very inviting if not a little pricy.
The "Walnut" suit was palatial, clean and welcoming.
We stayed on a one night stay with breakfast through Wowcher ... £59.00 for two .... Bargain of the century!!!!!!

Booked this hotel Through Wowcher for just £59 - A bargain Deal
Have read the terrible reviews & cannot believe we are talking about the same place.
We had the Walnut room. For 1 night & thought it was lovely
The Gardens with all the livestock roaming free adds to the character of the place.
Did not like Angus the older of the Westie dogs on site !!! Vicious thing !!!
The restaurant menu was extortiantly priced that was the only downful.
Staff were helpful & very accomadating & would definately stay there again.

Thank you Mandi - a lovely review, delighted you enjoyed. The dry-cured bacon incidentally is home-cured (they do not make it like this any more) the pork comes from Ashe Farm, less than a mile away. We hope you will return soon for a longer visit!

I had The Farthings recommended to me by the Ash hotel in Martock as they were full for the date required. When I phoned The Farthings they were also full but later phoned to say there had been a cancellation.
When My partner, Dog and I arrived we couldn't believe our luck. Its a beautiful quiet spot. Very laid back, just what we wanted.
Food was scrumptious and we dined alfresco in the front garden. Staff were attentive but not in our face. Perfect.
A wonderful stay. I think we shall be back!

Room Tip: We had Fern room. A sunny bright room at the front of the building. The road is outside but the nigh...
