Ok - nothing special but would stay here again. Came as part of a group for an event so didn't spend much time in the hotel really. The only downside was the restaurant - the harvester had a very limited range of vegetarian food.

We stayed over Christmas and the service was excellent with the staff making it very clear what was and wasn't available over the bank holidays including offering to change the bedding on Christmas day (it would have been the reception staff instead of the cleaners).

The room was large (two double beds and a sofa bed), clean, and quiet. A bit of a long walk to town but very convenient for the motorway.

We went down to Taunton to visit friends and after only spending £35 for a night including breakfast we weren't expecting much but it was wonderful for the money spent. Spotlessly clean, incredibly quiet and very comfortable. There is a harvester right next door about a 1 minute walk away so don't worry about finding somewhere to eat in the evening and breakfast was surprising as it included sausages, beans and scrambled egg along side the usual things to be expected with continental. Well done Holiday Inn Express, I will definitely look out for you again in the future.

We booked the Holiday Inn Express in Taunton for the 26th December whilst we were visiting our relatives. Our usual place of choice is Travelodge; as our family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers can fit in a family room, and meets or price expectations.
When I tried to book a room the Holiday Inn Express came up at the same price with better reviewed so I thought we should give it a go.
This turned out to be a great decision. Although the Travelodge is perfectly adequate, the Holiday Inn Express trumped it on a lot of key levels.
The room was more homely with additional touches such as additional bed throws and lovely curtains.
The shower was large (TL had a small bath with smalller shower over); the toilet in the bathroom had a clever door so it could be separated from the rest of the room for privacy.
The main bed was more comfortable, probably because of the newer mattress. The sofa bed was a small double, TL's 2 singles could be seen as better worn over children.
The major difference was the breakfast. TL had usually a Little Chef, great but expensive. The Holiday Inn Express had a buffet breakfast which was excellent, and suited our picky eaters perfectly. It also was great for the person who wanted a full three course breakfast.
Finally the staff were great, the are many more than in a TL. The reception staff when booking were really helpful. We checked in very late but the last on the bar assisted. The breakfast staff were lovely keeping everything topped up. All with lovely smiles and attitude.
So definite thumbs up and will be looking to use them again in the future.

Stayed here last night (new years eve) with my boyfriend as we had travelled down to Taunton to a friends house party. I was very pleasantly surprised in many ways. The most pleasing for me was the absolute lack of traffic noise - something that really bothers me and will put me off a hotel. I was a bit ominous initially being that it was titled with an m5 junction so i was expecting some noise, but it was very peaceful. The beds were comfortable, mattress is soft and bouncy but i quite liked it. Room bigger than i was expecting and had a sofa bed in too which was nice for extra space. Very clean everywhere. Toilet door was genius - u can shut it just on the toilet so someone else can use the bathroom or shut the entire bathroom off. Staff seemed pleasant. Only slight quarms was the breakfast wasnt up to much - not complaining it was free and filled a hole, and there didn't seem to be anyone around for a while when we wanted to check out about quarter to twelve. Late breakfast and check out was a plus after a heavy night before. All round, great value (£43.00 for the room inc breakfast), convenient ocation and peaceful. Would and hopefully will stay here again!

Stayed last year visiting family so we booked again this year still the same warm welcome and friendly reception by the staff, we arrived early Boxing Day and luckily the room was empty and we were offered to check in what was a bonus for us, after traveling from Newcastle Upon Tyne over 6 hours in the car that was a warm welcome. We booked for 2 nights and we enjoyed our stay so much we booked for another 2 nights the kids didn't want to come home so we made it in to a mini holiday. The Hotel is perfect located, clean and comfortable and complementary continental breakfast my family live in Axminster 17 miles away but worth the travel . Staff were so helpful nothing was a problem.
The only slight criticism i could share is the shower pressure was very poor but it did not spoil our stay. I do recommend this Good Value Hotel.
Hopefully we will return next boxing day.
PS. I recommend a day out to Lyme Regis 20 miles from the Hotel a little sea side village and recommend a visit to the home made artisan bakery for lunch excellent.

Room Tip: Corner suites are large expect to pay a little bit more but if you travel as a family ie. 2 adults a...

Plus points: Location, location, location, honoured room location request, good sized room, very clean, very quiet, very cheap.
Down sides: Squishy mattresses to the point where we checked out a night early because I couldn't face another night in the bed, a less than stellar breakfast (yes I know it's free but warm yoghurt? Really?), and not the slightest bit of interest shown in why we were checking out a night early.

Room Tip: 248 end of corridor, very very quiet.
