It was well set out, easy to navigate. Staff were very helpful. Free to enter with voluntary donation. The Military section was particularly good.

This was an excellent museum with very interesting displays that were very well set out. There were interactive elements and lots of activities for children.

This is a well spaced out Museum and very well done. And all for free! A reasonably priced cafe and nice clean toilets. Don't miss the old Alms house on your right as you go in, well worth look especially if there is a lady to tell you all about it as there was when I went!

Based within Taunton Castle, this one of the best county museums I have been to. The staff were welcoming, polite and helpful. The museum galleries are arranged in a one way system and tell the story of Somerset from the time of the formation of its rocks, through the era of dinosaurs to the 20th century via the Civil War and Monmouth Rebellion. Then there is an excellent military museum telling the story of the various Somerset regiments from their formation to modern times. The shop and café are also excellent and a visit is recommended. And, don't miss the small garden and buildings within the castle. Allow 3 hours.
