This is the third year we've stayed at this hotel due to our son taking part in a cricket festival at Kings College . This hotel is mainly geared for business clients and the extortionate pricing reflects that. However we have always enjoyed our stay here and the staff are incredibly friendly

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome, the bar staff were really friendly, the organisation of the wedding was first class from being seated for the service to going home at the end of the night.
The food was lovely and nothing was too much trouble.

Absolutely great to hear that nothing was too much trouble.

I do hope that we can help you again in the future. So many people just believe Holiday Inn are about bedrooms - it is great to hear that our Food and Beverage service skills are making memories too!

Thank you so much for your kind comments.

We stayed for just one night breaking our journey from London to Devon. After a 3 hour drive in the current heatwave it was perfect to walk into the HI's air-conditioned lobby and then be offered a free drink at the bar. First time result for IHG Rewards Membership. Once again with this Hotel brand you can expect clean, comfortable rooms, this was no exception except the bed was rather small for a double, but the bathroom ( wheelchair accessible ) was the size of a basketball court.
We were advised to come early dinner as there were two large coach groups eating that night. Sound advice from reception, and we were served just before around 70 plus people descended on the dining room, staff coped well though. There is an option to eat in the bar area which is huge, but we prefer a restaurant ourselves. All in all great value for money and you know what you get in advance. Would recommend.

Room Tip: Wheelchair accessible rooms have showers over the bath so if you need a proper wet room make sure yo...

I stayed here for one night while travelling to/from a local event. I didn't use any of the facilities, but the room was clean and comfortable, and the quiet air conditioning was much welcomed on the hottest night of the year. There was plenty of parking available, despite the hotel looking pretty full.

Stayed for 2 nights. Hotel is just what you come to expect from this chain - a liitle dated. Room and bathroom were clean and well presented. Hotel appeared to be quite full but accomodation area was very quiet so we got a good nights sleep, which can be quite unsual at weekends. Didn't use hotel restaurant but others in walking distance were OK. Don't see the need for WiFi when on holiday so any charges are irrelevant really.
Staff were pleasant and efficient.
Bar prices were exhorbitant when compared to nearby establishments - don't know how they justfy charging so much.
Hotel is conveniently placed for visiting local attractions and would also make a good stop off if travelling down to Cornwall.
Would recommend staying here.

We booked the hotel as a stopover on the way back from a break in Cornwall. It is a while since I have stayed in a Holiday Inn, so I had high hopes of a good night. We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast rate for ourselves with our baby daughter.

First of all, the room was not bad. Everything clean and working. We stayed on a really hot day/night, so the air conditioning was important for us. However, it turns itself off after a couple of hours. So you wake up hot and sweaty, stumble across the room trying not to wake our daughter to switch it back on. But you don't know that it did not just turn itself off, but it reset itself to a very low temperature. So an hour later you wake up frozen and take another trip to try to get the settings right. So not a good night.

I do need to use the internet when I am away. The time when hotels could charge exorbitant rates for internet are long gone. But not at Holiday Inn. Expect to pay many pounds for a days access. 3G signals here are poor, but usable - so use them instead. The TV requires navigation through a few menu levels to get to the regular TV channels each time you turn it on.

We used the pool in the attached fitness centre. That was not bad, so no complaints there.

Now for the restaurant. We arrived for our evening meal somewhere around 7PM. There were not many others in there, so we thought there should not be any problem. Eventually we managed to place an order for food and drinks. When you have the fully inclusive rate, there are only a few things you can order from the menu. The rest they want to charge extra for, even if the prices are the same as the inclusive items. The drinks took about half an hour to arrive. Then the starters, which were wrong. That was rectified fairly quickly and they were quite good. We then wait best part of an hour for the main courses, one of which was wrong. Half an hour later we get the correct meals, so around 2 hours after we arrived. The meal that had been correct had been kept warm, so was not great. They did manage to get the deserts right at the end and they were quite nice. We were given free drinks because of the poor service and problems.

Breakfast the next day was OK. it is hard to screw up a self service buffet. The pancake machine worked well.

I am so sorry that your visit to my hotel was not the best.

We have experienced some ordering issues during the implementation of a new system recently - however I am embarrassed that your meal should have suffered from such delays - especially so with you having your little daughter with you.

Please accept my sincere apologies and offer of assistance should you be passing my door again - my telephone number is 07736 746098.

Thank you for taking the time to let me know.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn on our way westwards towards Cornwall. We were welcomed at reception and made to feel as if we were important guests. The room was ideal, particularly as my wife is disabled. The bathroom was well equipped for a disabled person. The air conditioning unit took a bit of fathoming out but once sorted was efficient. The bar was good as was the restaurant. It could be improved with a wider choice on the menu, but the service was prompt and friendly and the food appetising.Breakfast is one of the real delights of the Holiday Inn Group with a wide choice of both hot and cold dishes - toaster was a bit slow, but that's the only criticism. Checkout was efficient and friendly. A great hotel which would recommend as a good stop for leisure purposes.

Room Tip: Our room was on the ground floor which was ideal for a disabled person, although there was some nois...
