“Great hotel, great for families”
Reviewed 5 September 2009

This is our second stay this year at this hotel. Again, no issues or problems. We booked a 2 for 1 rate in a executive family room costing £75 per night. It is worth paying a bit extra for the executive. The room was clean and comfortable, away from the M5 noise. Staff were great as usual, and the swimming pool was lovely.
Only downside was the increase in price during the weekdays for the breakfast buffet, however kids go free, and no "meal deals" as such to eat in the hotel.(Swindon H.I. did a £12.95 per adult for 2 courses and kids eat free) The hotel were charging £20 per adult, however they did have an Indian themed night at £14.95 all you can eat on our last night, however Indian food isn't our favourite. There is a good Harvester (£23 for family of 4 inc drinks) over the road and Pizza Hut nearby.
Overall, an excellent place to stay, however be aware of weekday price hikes for rooms and food, I guess to cater for the business customer.

This is a very nice hotel. Used as an overnighter on a family break, I spent little time here to test all the facilities. The room was small but very clean and comfortable. Made up correctly as a family 2+1 - a lot don't bother. Very friendly welcome.
Didn't use the bar or restaurant due to arrival / departure times.
There is a spa/healthclub adjoining which residents can use FOC which is well equipped and the pool is great.
Wired broadband internet available - come on guys in the US this is free. O2 3G non existent in this location - can't speak for other providers.
Overall, pretty good, but would be better with free internet.

The hotel is on a roundabout next to the motorway, very easy to find. The car park is good with quite wide pitches. The check-in was quick and easy, yet I had to ask for the platinum free upgrade. The receptionist told me that there are so many platinum members that holiday inn no longer upgrade them for free.
I was booked in a room very close to the restaurant which would have been quite noisy so the receptionist changed my room for me, I was put on the 1st floor, I took the lift which was only just big enough for me and my luggage. The room was quite large and well laid out, the bed was ok and had quite a few pillows. They also have the pillow menu that I have never used. The wifi is quite expensive as they use ibhan, I use 02 but couldn't get a signal.
The breakfast was good, the restaurant is quite small and the staff look after you really well. I asked for poached eggs and they were very happy to oblige this request.
The hotel has a leisure centre yet I have not used it.

I stayed for a night here with my wife and two kids in one executive room. The room was big enough for a sofa and pull out bed, but didn't have that much more space after that. It was fine for a stopover, but you might want a bit more space for a longer stay.

Everything was spotlessly clean and in good condition. The swimming pool was a reasonable size, not too busy, and stayed open until 10pm. It is quite close to the M5 motorway, but we didn't notice the road noise and we had a good nights sleep.

I booked it as a free night from an offer, but it would have been ~ £80 to book a week in advance.

By that I mean clean, family friendly and value for money. Spent two nights in an exec room with my wife and two boys 8 and 12 - room was a little small, but was immaculately clean, with fridge and iron plus usual tea/coffee -

pool is good with helpful staff - although I overheard regular users grumble a bit about the number of kids spoiling their peaceful swim...

breakfast is usual buffet, but was quickly replenished , unlike at a couple of Holiday inns we have used.

evening meal is fair value considering kids eat free from their menu, and the food in restaurant and bar was fine- although there is a penchant these days for veg to be cooked for as little time as possible - near raw is good for you, but takes a bit of getting used to...

desk staff were aways polite and helpful;
we would definitely stay here again (take steam train to the coast from nearby Bishops Lydeyard for a good day out)

Stayed here on our way to Devon for one night. The staff in this Hotel are excellent and certainly know how to make people welcome. There customer service skills are to be applauded. This more than made up for the small family room which was however very comfortable and the breakfast next morning was great.Well done to all the staff here.

We have stayed here many times and have always enjoyed it. Now, however, there is new seating in the large airy lounge which is uncomfortable in the extreme, especially for the shorter adult who must sit with feet dangling if they are leaning against the back, or perched on the edge if they want to touch the floor.

At least provide a choice of chairs! I couldn't stay in the lounge for longer than 30 minutes due to the discomfort.

My reccomendation to friends would come with the warning about this discomfort.
