Stayed for a week on a course and was very impressed with the location, the rooms and most of all the food.
Hotel is nicely situated for the M5 (5 mins) and easy enough to find.
Staff were also very pleasant.
Would recommend.

Booked this hotel for one night in advance of a wedding at the nearby Hestercombe Gardens (lovely, btw) and am delighted we did. I've been lucky enough stay in some amazing hotels and The Mount is was very nice; the vibe & service is chilled and a lot like being in someone's country house for the weekend rather than some soul-less chain.

The food punches above it's weight - we ate in the bar from the standard menu and it was great - on a par with some good London restaurants.

In summary, for a low key relaxed break, I'd recommend it,

It was a lovely hotel. Very grand rooms. Huge bathroom very clean. The location was picturesque, like something out of a Jane Eyre novel. Nice food too.

Staff were a credit to the company, two girls on the arrival desk when we arrived a blonde and Michelle? (going from unreliable memory!) Checked us in warmly and suggested we take afternoon tea, which we did and boy were we pleased we did! Still talking about it now! I won't list everything, but my other half and I have decided -having taken tea at Claridges and The Ritz that it is (in our opinion) the best tea in the western hemisphere! Sadly we rather ruined our appetites for dinner with our overindulgence at tea, but again everything that was put in front of us was delicious. Wonderful hot tub. Will be back for sure..

Met a friend there for lunch breaking a journey back from Cornwall, the main car park was full and we had to dodge a "teambuilding exercise" in the overflow car park, avoiding poles, barrels and salespeople scratching their heads. The hotel looks a little tired, and the reception desk looked unprofessional with the receptionist's drink in a mug sitting on the desk.
I was driving and wanted a soft drink - they could offer me a choice of a major brand of sweet sticky soft drink or a a major brand of a fizzy sweet sticky soft drink. Are there no artisan drink suppliers in the Somerset area, or is this hotel just lazy? Our light lunch was supposed to be a sourdough roll with sirloin steak cooked to my liking and a chicken Caesar salad with "anchovy beignets" and fresh croutons. I asked for my steak rare, it came medium well in a warmed up baguette (not a sour dough roll) and the "beignets" were just regular anchovies on the salad and fried bread for croutons, lazy kitchen staff!. I asked for an espresso coffee, the waitress went away and came back to tell me they didn't serve espressos only filter coffee, lazy hotel!. Amazing!
I've stayed at, and had fabulous food at, their sister hotel The Mallory Court in Warwickshire, so what happened here?
The Mount Somerset website says they have won many awards and even some for their food! Here's my award for their food - it's not very good!
It also says that it is "Well established as one of the finest luxury hotels and restaurants in the region" I'd hate to go to the others.

Thank - you for your feedback. I am sorry that your experience did not live up to expectations and fell short of our normal standards. The management course was held over the midweek and our guests were enjoying the facilities outside which has been far and few between this year. I am sorry for the shortfall in catering standards. Our chef has rectified the disappointments in the food and lack of espresso coffee. We have many soft drinks available and have reiterated to our team the choices available. Once again I am sorry for the shortfalls you experienced and look forward to welcoming you once again to the Mount Somerset Hotel.

Perfect for a bit of a Downton daydreaming, this manor house with ancient lineage and a modern, gilt-edged feel is a retreat in itself - not least because it feels like a bit of a trek to get anywhere else nearby. Fabulous rooms are good value (look out for some great last-minute deals on its website) and the free spa while lacking a pool, which would have bumped it up a league, makes the very most of a smallish space - the changing areas are a bit of a squeeze though. Staff are friendly and attentive (if occasionally thin on the ground, this being low season) . Highly recommend .

went to Mount Somerset on a Great Little Breaks offer and it lived up to the name! Friendly staff who made you feel that you were staying at a country house rather than hotel, rooms have names (local villages) not numbers and are tastefully decorated and finished with top quality products. comfy beds and very peaceful. We had dinner on the first night which was excellent, and afternoon tea the following day and were so full didn't eat again that day! we felt completely relaxed and spoilt, Thankyou Mount Somerset.
