“Luxury at its best”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2014

We have just spent 2 days at Mount Somerset and have not been disappointed. The sheer luxury of the deluxe rooms plus the splendid public rooms is a relaxing start to the New Year. The gardens look delightful and well kept and there are plenty of nearby walks.
Staff are friendly and welcoming, nothing too much trouble. The food is fabulous, Rack of Lamb cooked to perfection as too was the Blackberry soufflé.
log fires were a bonus on what has been a very wet & windy start to 2014

We had a delightful relaxing 3 night stay and very much enjoyed using the spa facilities. The staff were exceptionally kind and thoughtful. I was particularly pleased with the trouble that was taken to cater for my dietary needs - the food was quite wonderful. We would very much recommend the hotel as providing excellent service.

Set in excellent grounds this imposing building has been restored tastefully to the wonderful hotel it is.

Really stunning public rooms offering the perfect setting for whatever the occasion and looked after by very well trained staff. Food, drinks and service are of the very highest standard and is exactly what I expected from this group of hotels.

The hotel has everything including a really nice spa. Ideal for a romantic weekend away or a important business meeting.

We have just returned after staying at this hotel for 3 nights over the Christmas festivities. The warm welcome we received continued throughout our stay - Amy and the team really know how to look after their guests. They were happy, helpful and courteous and nothing was too much trouble for them. My mother who is 88 and suffering with dementia was looked after extremely well too and she left feeling relaxed, happy and well fed. The food was delicious, from the breakfast served on Christmas morning through to the Christmas day lunch and light buffet in the evening. They were extremely busy but this did not stop the excellent service - always conducted with a smile.

The rooms are sumptuously decorated. The beds are soft but firm and even if you have trouble sleeping you certainly won't here. Crisp white cotton sheets add to the comfort. Little touches that didn't go unnoticed too. Bottled water was replaced free of charge each morning, fresh oranges and chocolates were also replenished each day.

We have stayed in numerous luxury hotels throughout the UK and I quite honestly state that this hotel and its staff far outshine the rest.

Well done....you are a true credit to the Eden Hotel Collection and long may you continue to serve your customers with the same professional and friendly manner.

Thank you again for the lovely relaxing stay it was truly memorable.

Check in was easy and hotel looks fabulous. I paid £155 for a deluxe room.

Room was great and had lovely little touches. The remote control for the tv was missing, or at least was so well hidden i couldnt find it!

It was a long day and i wanted a bath. I ran one, but was freezing cold!

No hot water for the bath, or shower or sink. THREE times called down to reception each time they promised the water would be hot, but it never was.

I was up early so asked if i would have hot water fr the morning, and again was promised i would.

Up at six to use the gym, and guess what no water.

Livid, i had to then wait 15 minutes at the reception for the night porter, who was asleep in the back office!

I now this, as i had to go behind the reception desk, and use their own phone to call him!

Ridiculously, still no hot water after my run, and the only place i was offered to wash was the disabled toilet / shower ackin the gym.

I was still expected to pay the full room rate, no discount offered.

Horrible attitude and a real shame.

Avoid.

Room Tip: Go elsewhere, try the woodbury near exeter, lovely.

Warm, welcoming and extremely comfortable with well appointed, individual bedrooms. It's all the 'little touches' that really make the difference. All the staff we came into contact with were, without exception, friendly and helpful, any queries were dealt with promptly.
Some hotels can have a tendency to treat 'special offer' guests with a little bit of disdain. Not so with Mount Somerset. The service from start to finish was first class. Unfortunately we had no opportunity to sample the evening menu but the cream tea was delightful and the breakfast was excellent quality with plenty of choice.
The highlight was the superb accommodation. A pleasure to spend time in such comfortable surroundings. Definitely on the 'return to' list!

Treated my fiancé to a relaxing day at the spa. Lovely welcome, great facilities and a scrummy cream tea to finish off (gluten free option a bonus!!). The spa was relatively small but we pretty much had it to ourselves! Definitely recommend.
