Have visited this pub twice now - primarily as they offer lunch for a fiver during the week! The choices for a fiver are great from ham, egg and chips, fish and chips to a lovely pasta dish and lots of others inbetween. You can also get some other dishes for £6. Very good portions and served very nicely on large plates. Not swimming in stale fat or straight out of the freezer. All produce is sourced locally, the ice cream (which is to die for) in fact made in the village (Stoke St Gregory)! A lovely host who is from Holland and so polite and friendly. The pub is not fancy but also not trying to be anything other than a local pub. Really worth a visit and lots of beautiful countryside all around to walk off that lunch! They also offer an evening meal for £12 for two courses - we have yet to try that but will be soon!.

After reading all the rave reviews we thought this must be something special, it's not. For £6.00 a meal you got what you paid for, it certainly does not warrant being ranked number two on trip advisor, not sure why!!

We planned to meet up with old friends who live in Wellington. We live in Wincanton. After a little rootling around, found The Royal Oak on line and what a find!! Food, service, presentation all excellent but what value for money! Could not believe their prices. Dear hungry traveler, you will not be disappointed. Thank you, mine hosts. Cannot wait until our next visit.

Came in on Friday 30th. I had the soup starter n the chicken mainand my fiancé had mushroom starter and venison main. We both thoroughly enjoyed these meals. As our first time visiting everyone was friendly and helpful. So much so we came again today 1st June for Sunday lunch with family we had come down to visit. That was really nice to and again everyone was friendly. Will come again when we are back down here
