“Really great place to stay”
Reviewed 27 July 2011

This was a last minute booking for one night and it was sheer luck they had room. Chris and Karen welcomed us with great warmth and we spent the next 2 hours in the garden enjoying their company along with other guests and a few drinks. They have only just taken on the established business and are doing a tremendous job. The 'Granary' room was spotlessly clean, comfortable and quiet. The farmhouse and dining room is perfectly maintained and in keeping with it's 15th century origins. Breakfast was freshly prepared by karen and served by chris with the option of juice, yoghurt and fresh fruit salad. The cooked food was lovely. I would definately stay here again. Well done to Chris and Karen, I have no doubt that you will succeed and have many very happy customers.

Stayed at this farmhouse in Taunton for one night.
Was attending a conference and wanted a more homely feel rather than the chain hotels.
The building was full of character.

The farmhouse was easy to find.
Onsite parking was available.
Warm welcome by owners.

I stayed in Tudor Room, and it was a double used as a single. Massive room with good storage.
Nice view overlooking garden and very quiet.
Clean place room, everything was well kept. The shower was powerful and there was toiletries available.
Their towels smelt really nice also.
LCD TV and tea and coffee was available.

The bed(king) was very comfortable and I slept well.

Breakfast was ok. Made to order and u can have full english to continental if u wanted.

Wfi was available.

Local pub was in walking distance 10minutes.

Would recommend and stay here again.

We had a lovely 2 night stay at Yallands. Very friendly welcome, large comfortable rooms (our group occupied a double and two single rooms and all were clean and well equipped with a good sized digital tv). The room was a bit chilly but a convector heater was supplied. Excellent breakfast – we certainly didn’t leave there feeling hungry.

A personal criticism is that the shower could have been hotter, but I do like VERY hot showers so this probably wouldn’t bother most people.

The guest house is a 400 year old farmhouse located within a housing estate but when you are there you don’t even notice this. It’s like it is in its own little bubble with a lovely tree filled garden.

We will definitely be staying again.

We booked the whole farmhouse for a weekend for a nearby wedding. Accommodation (bedrooms and the lounge which was available to us) was excellent, breakfasts ample and varied. The owners also provided us with sandwich lunch on the day of the wedding - they could not have been more helpful, both beforehand and during our stay. It was a pleasure staying there.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. It is in a strange setting, amongst a housing estate. The previous owners of the farmhouse sold their farmland to a builder - this was some 25 years ago. Having said that the farmhouse still retains lots of olde worlde charm and has so much character. Our bedroom was very spacious, warm and very comfortable. The owners are so welcoming and make you feel so welcome. We could not fault the breakfast, it was delicious. I would give this establishment 10 out of 10. I would definitely stay here again.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Owners Chris & Karen Ward look forward to welcoming you to Yallands Farmhouse - our delightful Grade II Listed building dating back over 400 years, which sat amidst acres of green fields for several centuries. The expansion of Taunton during the 1970's led to new housing being built on the former farmland. The farmhouse, with its secluded garden, small orchard, and stone barn was left intact. As a result, Yallands has become an unexpected 'oasis' of peace and tranquility within a modern corner of Somerset's county town. Yallands offers self-assessed 4 star accommodation in Taunton, Somerset. The house is situated 1 1/2 miles from Taunton town centre, on the north-western edge of the town, and is easily reached from the M5 motorway - junction 25 (4 miles), and junction 26 (6 miles). For those who are reliant on public transport a local bus, with a stop at the foot of the garden, provides a frequent daytime service to and from the town centre. The lovely town centre provides excellent shopping and county cricket, horse racing, golf, theatre and other leisure facilities are all available nearby. Taunton has a good selection of restaurants and wine bars to suit most tastes and the surrounding countryside offers many delightful pubs which serve excellent food. There is ample car parking space in the private grounds together with lockable cycle storage in the stables. Why not enjoy relaxing in our gardens in the summer or sitting in front of our open fire in those cold winter months? Yallands is open all year round and - whether you are a tourist or a business visitor - you can be assured of a warm welcome and our individual attention.Yallands is particularly convenient for Taunton School, The Somerset Heritage Centre & Nuffield Hospital. ... more   less
