“excellent wedding weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2013

Family, friends and the bride and groom booked rooms here for the weekend of the wedding - from the moment we arrived until we left all of the staff team helped us all in any way that they could to make the weekend run smoothly. Thank you to everyone for making the occasion so perfect!

Well it was time to jump out of an airplane at 15,000 feet so we needed a place to stay close to the airfield (17miles away) and this was it, just of the M5 the Premier Inn was located.
The reason I have rated this as Average is because it is in need of some maintenance.
Checkin was ok although we were not given much info just times of when dinner was served until and breakfast times quite late for a Premier Inn.
Our room 53 was large and clean bed was good pillows were good, but that was about it. The TV was a 14' CRT in a poor viewing position, the Shower had low pressure and did not wake you up, the kettle was dangerous as it had no cut off switch so when it was in its cradle it was on with no water in it so the plastic moulding was hot to the touch a real fire hazard, toilet extractor fan bearings are gone and needs replacing.
The attached restaurant was warm and friendly with a rustic feel, bar staff were great (prices a tad high for the run of the mill items) but yet again in need of some TLC, there were damp patches on the celling with plaster hanging down, lights were out, a simple change of bulb would have resolved this a nice and simple fix, and I am sorry to report that one of the members of staff had a bit of a BO problem and not what you want leaning over you when delivering your meal. Breakfast was a good standard set you up for the rest of the day.
Cost was ok £68 per room but as they were not full I would have thought it would have been cheaper.

We stayed here due to a family emergency and needed to close to the hospital, we turned up late afternoon and booked for one night, we had to rebook on a daily basis due to circumstances but the staff could not have been more helpful, we paid for breakfast but due to being called to hospital early one morning did not get back in time, Zoe arranged a part refund off the next night stay to compensate. The housekeeping staff kept the room when we couldn't get back in time to check out and our things were safe until we could return. It helped take some of the worry out of a difficult time, We will stay here again in July for a wedding as cannot fault the hotel or staff.

Stayed here whilst on business.

Parking is on-site and free of charge.

Reception was polite and check-in was swift.

Room was as you would expect from a Premier Inn: clean, modern, tidy, warm and quiet.

Very good, clean and friendly staff. The full English breakfast was very good. Room was very large, great for a family of 4. The only downside was that the room did not have a fridge which would have been good for storing baby milk. The offer of free 30 minutes Wi-Fi was an unexpected bonus. 24-hour access to the Wi-Fi for under £5 is a bargain. A lot cheaper than many other hotels.

clean, handy and basic is my experience. The room was clean and large if a little tired and dated.
I was happy with my stay and a little more character than other Premier Inns.
Breakfast was fine and satisfied me ( continental). I did not have meal there due to reviews on trip adviser. There are other places within driving distance as long as you have done a minimal research hunt. Otherwise a trip into Taunton.

There are three Premier Inn's in Taunton, somewhat surprisingly, but I chose this one for a recent trip to Lundy, due to its excellent location, on the eastbound carriageway of A358 just part the M5. It seems to be a slightly older buidling that some of the other Premier Inn's, but is nevertheless just as comfy, with the usual big beds and other additons. The telly was however just a small one rather than the big screens that are advertised - not an issue for me, as I don't watch a lot anyway but worth bearing in mind if you have a family.

There was a certain amount of noise from the main road outside, but it didn't disturb my sleep unduly. Single women are normally placed on the 2nd floor, but as I had a number of bags I requested a room on the ground floor, which was not a problem, although I can see that some might feel safer upstairs. As for the pub next door, I can't comment on that, as along with most places their idea of veggie food seemed to be spuds and lasagne, and as someone who is gluten free as well, I didn't fancy my 7th spud in one week. I went then to the Sainsburys a mile up the road instead.
