Good points: Lovely food and staff, would definitely go back for that

Bad points: Our room had NO hot water, and after the gym, being starving we went back for a shower before we went out for food... We found the HOT water from the shower and the tap BOILING, almost burning us and when I rang for assistance I was told there was nothing they could do ? ? .. Someone was coming to fix it over night, so we had to try and pour boiling water over us to wash the soap off with a glass slowly !!.. Food was great afternoon and breakfast and staff were lovely. Spar facility wasn't up to standards really, the Ladies showers did not work ? ? ... And the Spa was freezing cold for a spa, gym was good though.

Room Tip: Up grade if you can on the room

Dear Guest

Thank you for your time in providing an insight into your recent stay at Ramada Sutton Coldfield. We very much appreciate all feedback and ensure opportunities to improve our hospitality and service are recognised and acted upon.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your breakfast, found the staff lovely and enjoyed your time in the gym. The pool water is currently being maintained at temperatures between 27 - 29 degrees, which is considered acceptable under swimming pool guidelines, although I accept a more leisurely use may find this cool. We are unaware of any failure with the ladies showers, and apologise that you were inconvenienced by a momentary fault. We very much regret a temporary interruption to cold water supply, affecting a specific section of rooms, resulted in us requiring external contractor assistance. Whilst we sought assistance, bottled water and letters explaining the matter were placed in affected bedrooms, with an offer of our leisure club showers overnight and public toilets unaffected. It was of course not ideal, however regrettably was out of our immediate control, and has since been rectified.

Please know that your feedback is extremely valuable to us and we will utilise your response by continuing to focus on making each and every guest experience the best it can be, we do hope you enjoyed your stay with us overall and it is our hope that you will give us another opportunity to serve you again in the future.

Yours sincerely,

Having booked and then reading reviews on here we were a bit concerned .
The hotel is easy to find and there is lots of parking.
Reception was friendly and efficient.
Rooms are dated and could do with a bit more attention to detail of cleaning i.e. Skirting boards and underneath basin in bathroom ,but the bedding and towels were good . Beds quite comfy and room very warm .
Breakfast was really nice with lots of choices ,first time we have seen crumpets available anywhere.
Check out good and we actually ended up paying less than quote,we had booked direct with hotel on their website.
For £69 per night for a double room with breakfast this is a bargain.
We would book again

Booked spa weekend through wowcher for myself & daughter. Enjoyed our 2 night stay. I was also pleasantly suprised that they catered for daughters dietary needs - dairy/egg intolerant. Nothing too much trouble..Saving for return visit later in year.

Stayed 2 nights in this comfortable but dated hotel. The rooms are laid out in a very confusing warren: you need a map to work out the corridors and numbers. The hotel seems to cater for business groups and functions.
Very convenient for trips in the area .

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the reception block so you don't have to trek far.

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to note your observations following your recent 2 night stay here at Ramada Sutton Coldfield.

I am glad you found your stay with us comfortable and our location convenient and I do hope you were able to enjoy the pleasant grounds and leisure club facilities whilst staying with us.

Our hotel has a mix of guests from private individuals, businesses, families and of course, events, with all of our guests being equally important to us. I concur that the hotel does have an unusual layout, which is due to its development over the years, but some say this adds to the hotel's appeal.

May I take this opportunity to suggest that should you choose to stay at the hotel again, take a moment to follow our hotel Facebook and Twitter accounts to hear of offers, team news and community events. I stayed here for a week on business and only checked out this morning, bed was comfortable and the staff were really nice especially the restaurant staff and the lovely blonde barmaid, food is exceptionally good in the evening and they do a nice pint even if it is on the expensive side, however I had no running water in the room from last night and none this morning, I was offered a key to another room to shower but I had slept in and didn't have the time to walk the 2 miles back to reception to get the key so I had to slum it, would dine there again but wouldnt stay

Dear Guest

Thank you for taking the time and trouble to note your observations following your recent stay for business at Ramada Sutton Coldfield and I am sorry that on this occasion we did not fully meet expectation.

I am glad you found the bed comfortable during your stay and enjoyed the food in the restaurant, it was also pleasing to learn you found all the staff really nice. It is with regret that on your last night the hotel experienced a problem beyond our control, with the water supply. It was isolated to a specific area within the hotel and I understand you were offered an alternative room for use, but appreciate due to circumstance this was not convenient for you and we apologise for any disruption you encountered during your stay.

We hope to be of service to you again.

Yours sincerely

I find it really difficult to rate this hotel fairly, with some aspects being poor but others excellent.

On the debit side, and as others have said, the building itself is decidedly odd: it seems to extend in all directions from the reception - a real rabbit warren, with some lengthy corridors out of all proportion with the number of rooms they led to and very tired looking public areas.

I had been allocated a 'studio' room, which included an interesting 'Japanese' shower. The decor was 'a bit 70s' in style. It had probably been updated since then but could have done with re-doing: some of the grout between the bathroom floor tiles needed attention and the shower cubicle showed a build up of limescale. The bathroom mirror was an oddity - heated (presumably so it didn't steam up) - which was operated with the bathroom light. So if one went out but forgot to turn off the light the bedroom was transformed into a personal sauna.

On the credit side, the bed was very comfortable, so being at the end of one wing made for a very good night's sleep. I found the staff to be friendly and professional, with good service in the restaurant. But the best feature of the hotel was the quality of the evening meal. I admit to being pretty particular when it comes to food in terms of the quality, choice and presentation. Given the distinctly average decor I had expected the menu to be similarly uninspiring, but I have to say it was excellent - well cooked and nicely presented.

In summary then, would I stop at the Ramada again? Well, I wouldn't choose it for a leisure trip but it was certainly serviceable for business purposes. It's just a pity that the company seems prepared to allow the fabric of the place to deteriorate when the staff and food are so good.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your time in providing an insight into your recent stay at Ramada Sutton Coldfield, and we are most appreciative of your constructive and in the main, positive report.

We are delighted that you found your bed comfortable and enjoyed a good nights sleep, and are gratified to learn you found the staff friendly and professional, with the best feature, being the excellent restaurant food, well cooked and nicely presented, I will be sure to pass your compliments on to Chef!

We are a mid market three star property, and whilst I completely concur that aspects of the property would benefit from investment, as a team we are committed to warm, friendly hospitality, and work hard on the aspects within our control to ensure guests have a positive experience. I appreciate our hotel layout is unusual due to the nature of it's development over the years, some say this adds to the charm and ambiance, with most rooms being less than 2 minutes from reception.

We look forward to being of service to you again in the future.

Yours sincerely

once again, a great deal at "your place"- this time we had our 7yr Westie, MAC with us, his first time away, so all understandably a little nervous. no worries, we had a brilliant room, lots of space for him. of course, made welcome by the staff which could not resist MAC'S cuteness, so that made us feel easier.
The facilities in your pool etc., were used again, good. The quality of the evening meal was good and comfortable dining room, so still as enjoyable 2 nd time round. No hesitation coming back, for the good deal and welcome. Good to explore different parts of the country

Good comfy bed, so good sleep, lovely bathroom, thanks

Room Tip: if you have a doggie, room 401 and 402 are ideal to put you all at your ease.
