Owner description: Delivering a sense of wilderness within an urban environment, visitors to Sutton Park can enjoy the captivating scenery, using an accessible network of paths. There are opportunities to enjoy walking, jogging, angling, nature watching, orienteering, play areas, restaurants and use bridle paths and cycling routes in the Park. Car parks are located at all the main entrances and the Park is linked to a variety of public transport routes.Sutton Park is an historic landscape that covers an area of over 2,000 acres and attracts over two million visits every year.In 1997, English Nature designated Sutton Park a National Nature Reserve and it is also a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).Lying six miles to the north of Birmingham City Centre this landscape is a mosaic of open heathland, woodlands, wetlands, marshes and seven lakes each with their own rich variety of plants and wildlife, some rarely seen in the region. It is an important site for wildlife and conservation, containing fine examples of natural countryside that have survived for hundreds of years. These habitats are part of a working grazed landscape where cattle and wild ponies can be seen grazing during the year. This park is a natural area where animals roam freely. “One of my favourite places”
Reviewed 1 July 2012

I adore Sutton Park. It is a place on my doorstep which is beautiful with something for everyone to enjoy. Many tranquil walks, beautiful pools, natural beauty. Areas for children to play, wonderful dog walking, places to eat (my favourite is the Blackroot Bistro) and picnic. Can be busy on sunny days, but always a pleasure.

“Best in the Midlands”
Reviewed 1 July 2012

As i live minutes away from Sutton Park i have spent many hours ther in my 50 years, from dog walking to watching the Touring car rally that used to have a stage there, since Birmingham council took over the running in about 1973 it has not had the care given by the old Sutton council as Birmingham tend to spend their budget on the more poor areas, but still is a top place to visit as you have over 2000 acres with no cost involved to enter.

“Fresh air so close to the city centre”
Reviewed 30 June 2012

Birmingham is really a green city and Sutton Park is just one of its green resources. Kept in a very natural state, it is a fabulous place to walk, run, cycle and feel in the middle of no where, although you are only a few miles from the city centre.

Sutton Park is a brilliant place for walking and enjoying the countryside. There are lakes, woodland areas and playgrounds. You can also get a meal in at least 3 places.

“Disappointingly untidy”
Reviewed 25 June 2012

Litter everywhere - obviously from rubbish bins being emptied by foxes etc. Little effort appeared to be being made to clear it up.
