“Lovely country house experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 March 2012

Stayed here with my husband using Tesco vouchers,we upgraded to a superior room when booking using the vouchers for it all.
It is a charming, welcoming and very friendly hotel. The staff are lovely and accommodating from the reception staff to the pool staff.
Our room was comfortable and clean with robes, slippers and a mini-bar,it overlooked the overflow car park but we were not disturbed all weekend even though there was a wedding on the Saturday. We plan to return and would ask if we could have a view of the grounds/golf course but it wasnt an issue.
We had a very filling meal on the friday night,3 courses including a carvery in the Country Kitchen,we looked at the Oak Room for a meal but preferred the menu in the Country Kitchen. Breakfast was very good, efficient waitresses and a good selection of hot food to help yourself to along with cereals and fresh fruit and even the hotels own honey!
The pool was great, not olympic size, but enough for a few half hearted lengths before trying the sauna and steam room, towels are provided by the hotel when you hand the pool reception your room key which is a nice touch.
We loved all the little nooks and crannies around the hotel and there was always somewhere comfortable to sit, from the aptly named snug with a roaring fire or the huge conservatory with chairs and sofas overlooking the lovely grounds and golf course.
Four oaks railway station is a short distance and we caught the train into Birmingham for a day of sightseeing/shopping but were very glad to get back to the delightful peace and tranquility of the hotel.
Will definately be returning very soon!

Room Tip: Choose a superior room, not too much more but has the little luxuries of mini bar/robes etc

Beautiful location in magnificent grounds. Classic old time English hotel. Loads of wood panelling stone floors etc. Staff were friendly and efficient and not to ploished, just right. Perfect for a long week end or a base to tour the midlands. Other guests said the spa and pool was really good but I didn’t try it, the bar was good !!
My room was large clean and comfortable. Breakfast was really good and the breakfast staff were marvellous.

Stayed here for weekend break with wife and 2 kids using Tesco vouchers.
Family room with 2 double beads was great...plenty of space, mini bar, huge whirlpool bath.
Used the on site pool a couple of times too - very enjoyable. Not huge but enough to keep the kids entertained for an hour.
Breakfast was very nice too - well cooked and loads of choice. Country Kitchen restaurant is a little claustrophobic, but Oak Room very good.

Would definitely recommend this hotel, very friendly staff, responsive to requests and nothing too much trouble.

We have stayed here regularly for business on a number of occasions this and last year. I am compelled to write a review as the feedback form left in the room does not allow enough information. The rooms are good as is the location. Service staff are helpful but still get the room service requirements wrong, quite often forgetting things, like glasses or salt and pepper etc.The biggest let down to this hotel is the food. We ordered cod and chips and my wife ordered a steak and chips. When the food arrived there was as much batter on my fish as there was fish. My wifes steak was burnt on the outside. This is not complicated! This is not the first time we have questioned the quality of the food here. If Moor Hall could sort out the food problems this would be a great place to stay for business or otherwise at the moment it is merely average.

My friends and I had another lovely evening in the Country Kitchen. The food was excellent and the service. The Chef did the best vegetarian meal that I've had in a very long time and the vegetables were cooked to perfection.

The Country Kitchen is a relaxed restaurant that has some fantastic early bird deals on most months. It is always worthwhile checking the website for offers. It is a carvery style restaurant with always a vegetarian option. There is also a more formal dining restaurant.

Moor Hall is an excellent venue to relax and enjoy the company of your friends. I would highly recommend it as a welcoming, comfortable hotel.

Well done Moor Hall - keep up the good work!

I knew about this hotel as a relative worked here for 25 years.
The hotel is a mix of old and new rooms,we had an older room.Very comfortable maybe a bit dated but comfy bed, big bathroom, clean and warm.
A bit of an issue with the stairs so if mobility is an problem ask to be put in the wing which has a lift,we will the next time.
The spa looked great we didn't have time to try it out but will do on our next visit.
Breakfast was plentiful and good quality and variety.
Value for money stay...no complaints at all!!

I have stayed at Moor Hall a number of times now, mainly on their Spa Weekend package. For £120- use of the pool/sauna/steam room/jacuzzi/spa and gym- 2 spa treatments- amazing back massage and refreshing facial with amazing and friendly therapists, 3 course dinner in the Oak room, an intimate and luxurious room featuring wood panelled walls- food is from a fixed menu of some top quality produce- I had smoked salmon and crab fritter starter followed by hake and prawns on spinach, followed by a passion fruit tart and Malibu sauce. Delicious food and service is excellent! The wine waiter certainly knows his alcohol! Very well informed. Nothing was too much at dinner- excellent service.
Bar areas are gorgeous and rooms are well equipped- robe and slippers allow you to change into them on arrival and walk around the hotel.
Breakfast was wonderful- choice of cereal and fruit, pastries and a full cooked breakfast buffet style- sausages were very succulent and tasty and the bacon was thick and meaty, fried and scrambled eggs, hash browns, mushrooms, black pudding etc. tea and coffee bought to your table.
Gorgeous grounds- a sunken garden is well worth a nose at.
This was my 5th visit and I would happily return- very friendly and you can do what you like when you like- very relaxed.
