Booked 2 nights DBB over the phone direct with the hotel as we needed to book spa treatments (not possible online) and saved £80! Superior room was of a high standard, Oak Room restaurant served excellent food but waiters will try and sell the side dishes which aren't necessarily needed. The bar and kitchens did an excellent job on the Sunday - at least 4 big functions in the hotel but our freshly prepared lunch came within 10 minutes of ordering. Country Kitchen staff weren't as knowledgeable and attentive to needs as in the Oak room, several requests made for water which was eventually served without glasses. Spa area - pool relatively small 11m long but very clean, a few more loungers would have been nice as guests/members struggled to get loungers if they didn't arrive early. Treatments slightly on the expensive side, however service was good and relaxing.
Having contacted the hotel for a bottle of wine to be in the room on arrival as it was a celebration break we arrived to find a personalised birthday card as well. Overall an excellent break.

Room Tip: Book direct with the hotel for a personal service and better price than online

Having stayed once before and experienced a good break, we decided to spend Easter there to just relax. Despite the critics we find that the location and layout of this hotel lends itself to peace and quiet and for us that is our first consideration! Though faces change... it was quiet obvious that from the moment we checked in, the desire of the staff does not.. and the they were only to happy to go beyond their duties to ensure our stay was all we expected it to be! They went about their roles with a sense of duty AND genuine enthusiasm..something I have found lacking many times elsewhere!!.. The Spa facilities are excellent and clean and we take full advantage of them hence our feeling of well-being when leaving!!! good food and bar (though I did hear a guest moaning about prices...well go find a pub!)..A special mention of Hollie behind the bar who dealt with and deflected many trivial quiries and moans and provided plenty of engaging conversation when moments permitted! all in all a great break and I recommend this hotel for a quiet and relaxing stay..and thank all of the staff there again for making it just what we wanted!!

A very good hotel set in a quiet location. Room of a good standard. The dining was good but our only option for dinner (Sunday evening) was a fixed price for three courses whether you wanted them or not. All the staff were very attentive and polite. Pool was very good, but as with a lot of this type, it doesn't take much to be crowded. Didn't really affect our enjoyment and our 9 year old thoroughly approved. Would definitely go back if we wanted to visit the area again.

Booked this 'romantic spa weekend' after researching hotel on internet. Sounded lovely, but the reality was a big let down. We would not call what we received as either 4 star or premier at all. Far too many mistakes to list as would end up writing an essay. In short, from arriving to the room we booked ' being unavailable', everything was a bit tatty, the bathrooms very old, tired and grubby, the service seemed haphazard, especially at breakfast, and they didn't seem to be able to sort anything we asked for. We gave up trying. We were not impressed. Way overpriced for what we got. In a lovely setting, building beautiful, and should be good, but does not deliver on it's advertising.

When we checked in we had 4 rooms booked, they told us there was only 3 until we showed them the confirmation letter, none of our (standard) rooms had shampoo or shower gel, we were told that we only had standard rooms and they weren't included. then they mixed up our double and single rooms so everyone had to swap around after getting settled. The food was equally as bad with both breakfast and our evening meals being barely edible causing us to have to call the manauger to remove the mouldy rasberry jellies and dry crumbly cheese plate.

I was sorry to hear of the problems you experienced during your recent stay with us as this is certainly not the usual excellent standard of Moor Hall. I have discussed all your comments with the relevant Heads of Department to ensure these problems cannot happen in the future and do hope you will accept my sincere apologies. Hope you will be able to visit us again when you are next in the area.
