Great meal after a great day out touring the house. Lovely food at a reasonable price. Everything we ordered was if the best quality and taste, and was served promptly and with a smile... Loved it!

Wanting to fill an hour en route to Luton airport for a returning American guest, we chose Burghley Park. On approach we realised there was a Game Fair on and feared the traffic. No problem! And they manage the parking very well, so no delays. Then a super but quick walk around the front of the house and the side of the game fair, plus 15 minutes shopping for souvenirs, an excellent way to get a taste of this superb venue.

Lovely Gardens and Parkland that are well worth a visit, especially if the weather is nice. Well signposted with plenty of parking (free) close to the House and Gardens. Check out 'Burghley House' for reviews of the house itself. If you want to go in the Garden of Surprises and Sculpture Park there is an entrance fee. The Garden of Surprises is wonderful for families and the children were having a fabulous time with all the water fountains etc. - do make sure you bring swimming costumes or another set of clothing for everyone!! The Sculpture Park is far quieter but still great fun with lots of fascinating exhibits dotted amongst the trees. It's great to sit by the lake and relax.
There are plenty of places to have a picnic (not in the Garden of Surprises) or you can use the café right next to the Gardens. Toilets are also by the café.
Highly recommended for a great day out.

We arrived on a very rainy day, thankfully it cleared up later. We firstly went to the little cafe near the Surprise Garden and had some delicious scones and tea then went into the house. The house is beautifully presented and the audio guide very helpful, there are also people around to help with any questions. We spent quite some time going round the rooms and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. As it still raining when we came out we had another cup of tea and a very expensive bag of crisps (£1.50!!! even the lady in the cafe thought they were expensive) then as the rain stopped we went into the Sculpture Garden and then the Surprise Garden which is absolutely wonderful. Lots of water features and there are some lovely surprises. We were unable to go round the rest of the grounds as it was so wet but we were quite happy that we had our moneys worth anyway. I would recommend Burghley House if you enjoy going round stately homes and the whole family would love the Surprise Garden and the Sculpture Garden. There is also a lovely lake there.
