“Lovely Stay”
Reviewed 17 January 2014

My Wife and I and 10 month old stayed in Cottage 3 for 10 days over Christmas and New Year. We had a lovely stay at the cottage. Richard and Kaye provided us with all the information we needed before we came, and were extremely helpful and welcoming whilst we stayed. It was like a home from home and we much enjoyed our baby's first Christmas and New Year there (the baby loved the duck and chickens). The scenery around the farm is great , we went for some nice walks locally with Stamford, Oakham and Rutland Water good to visit.
The cottage was very clean and had all the facilities you could require. There was some pretty bad weather some days and the cottage was very cosy and warm. Overall I could not recommend staying here enough, and we will be back.

I have just returned from a 4 night break over the New Year period in Clematis Cottage number 1 with friends. This was a delightful break away and a splendid way to see in the New Year. The cottage is warm and cosy yet spacious enough to happily accommodate 5 adults and one very contented 10 year old (the jigsaws and board games went down very well). Kaye and Richard could not have been more helpful or welcoming, the fresh eggs and milk were a lovely touch (and a sample of Richard's cider a real winter warmer). The cottage is well equipped, we are a group of foodies so cooking special meals was the order of the day and the kitchen more than met our needs. The surrounding area is very beautiful, walking round the local footpaths, a trip to Rutland Water and eating and shopping in Stamford were all wonderful experiences. I and my fellow companions would highly recommend this cottage, and the others on site could suit the needs of smaller or larger parties. This was a New Year we will all remember. Thanks ever so much to Richard and Kaye Ps I do think that the on line photos don't do the cottage or it's location proper justice. Cheers

Hi Ricardo, thank you so much for your review. It means a huge amount to us to see that our guests enjoy their break.......and even more to Richard to see someone else appreciate his cider!
Happy new Year to you all!

We stay away for work for 10 days at a time so stay in plenty of cottages and apartments all around England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland. We prefer this to hotels.
We were working in Grantham and although it was a half hour drive each morning to work it was worth every minutes drive.
Kaye and Richard were so welcoming and friendly it made us feel right at home. Nothing was too much trouble and both were very helpful.
We stayed in cottages 1 & 3, both were stunning. Very warm and cosy which we needed as we stayed in November and it was very chilly. The facilities were great, everything you would ever need was available.
The grounds to the cottages are beautiful with ducks running around and if you're lucky you might get to see the Deer chasing round the field adjoining the grounds.
The surround area was very pretty and Stamford is a lovely town.
The main Supermarkets are just 4 miles away and very easy to get to.
The high speed fiber optic wifi was a dream, especially as I worked from home several times. Very fast and never dipped out. For being right out in the country my phone signal was excellent too (Vodafone)
All in all this is probably one of the best we have stayed in and would certainly return if in the area.
Thank you both for everything.

Room Tip: cottage 1: 2 bed 2 bath, cottage 3: 2 bed 1 bath upstairs lounge.

We were so pleased to find this spotlessly clean cottage just perfect for the two of us (Cottage 2) We arrived to find half a dozen eggs from Kayes chickens, milk, tea, coffee, washing up liquid, soaps etc all there.Even better Kaye sells any fresh home grown vegetables she has in her garden and honey from Richard's bees Sometimes delicious chutney too.We have been back three times and on another occassion,as we had friends with us,stayed in the barn which is not yet on the website. The advantage of this one is a very large bed in the main bedroom, a very good sized guest bedroom and a huge sitting room upstairs. However the most important part is how very kind, helpful and delightful Kaye and Richard are-they have even lent us their car when ours broke down

The cottage was ideal for our weekend getaway providing us with tranquil surroundings and helpful hosts. Inside is warm and snug with great facilities and if you ever need anything else, or advice of where to go, Kaye and Richard are more than willing to oblige. In addition, the cottage is only a stones throw away from beautiful areas such as Rutland water, which is perfect for walks and wildlife spotting, and only a ten minute drive from the picturesque Stamford which is full of charming pubs and restaurants. Overall the weekend was lovely and we couldn't have asked for more from our little weekend getaway.

We stayed here for the first time earlier in the month for the horse trials. Richard and Kay seemed very pleasant when we met them. They gave us some fascinating insight to the grounds and particular the extensive orchard that they have! We stayed in cottage one and it was an ideal base for us. Unfortunately for tall people the upstairs bedrooms with slanted roofs meant daily head bumps for which was our own fault but none the less frustrating!

Thank you for your review, we are aware of the problem that the sloping ceilings cause for taller guests. So it is with them in mind that we are now happy to announce Cottage No3, Which has a double bedroom and super-king bedroom with high ceilings and spacious living accommodation, soon to appear on the website.

Just got back from a lovely stay in this cottage set in the heart of linconshire countryside. We were welcomed by two lovely and friendly hosts who were responsive to any need. The house was very clean and had all the accessories required. Lots of space for my little kid to run around and we pinched a couple of lovely organic apples under the trees. Obviously being a comunal area of 3 cottages ( with varying age ranges) a bit of good sense is needed to see you do not disturb the neighbours. This was an excellent launching pad to discover rutland,linconshire... Had a lovely going away present of homemade honey.. which i tasted on my toast this morning... Also for all you high tech dependents people you are supplied with a 10 mb upload and download broadband connection.
Only one peice of advice being in a tranquil off the beat place. Set your Satnav to the postcode.
Nice places are difficult to find!
