“Well worth a visit”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014

This town is well kept and with the pedestrian shopping area a safe place to wander around. There are a variety of shops with many independent retailers. Lots of interesting streets and alleyways and a very pleasant riverside park. The buildings are often of significant architectural interest and ther are many maps placed all around the town to inform and guide.

“Historic market town”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 July 2014 via mobile

What a lovley town. Quaint shops, plenty of parking. Nice pleasant people. Most shops are tucked away down alley ways and back streets.
My only concern is the amount of a boards in the high street, a nuicence for blind or disabled people!

“Delightfull”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 July 2014

Stamford is a picturesque, unspoiled market town. It has many lovely old architecturally interesting buildings, all of which add to the character of the town. It has a wide variety of good shops of all types, (if all a little on the small side). It is a lovely place to walk around, shop and eat good food. Plus there are good attractions in and around the town. We will be back.

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Having first heard of the joys of Stamford a very long time ago, when we eventually went we could not understand why we had left it for so long having favoured the Cotswolds, Bath, Tunbridge Wells and Chester but when we made the trip we discovered an absolute gem of a town. we picked up a copy of the town walk from the tourist information centre and only managed to get around half of it in around two hours having arrived at the end of the day following a trip to nearby Burghley house. We now plan to return and complete the route and can't wait to plan our trip. Thoroughly fascinating and made no less enjoyable by the traffic, at the end of the day and being rush hour, the town is a funnel for traffic and access is limited as in all old towns by old buildings and historic bridges. It was no less beautiful for it though. Friendly people, many of whom asked if we needed help when seeing us consulting our town walk guide when we were merely engrossed in it, had we genuinely needed assistance it was nice to know that so many would be so willing to help.Made the town feel so much more warm and comforting and for that reason we are also looking forward to our return. Not to be overlooked, get there as soon as you can.Stunning

“What a lovely English town to wander around”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 May 2014

for this township you will need 2-3 hours to wander around looking at the old buildings. you start at the Red lion Square and just wander around. You shouldn't miss going into two churches, St John the Baptist and All saints. They have some great stained windows in them and also some interesting history. The town meadows are also worth a visit for the history part which you can read all about. There are a few Norman arches to be seen if you look between the buildings. The are some lovely paupers houses which were originally a hospital built by Lord Burghley.
There is a lovely Italian coffee shop called Milano's which serves a good coffee. We had lunch at the London Inn and it wasn't great apart from the chilli carne, the French fries and the very cheap price. The salad was rather old, the chicken was dried up and the bread was probably old as well. go some where else for lunch.
