It was lovely I must say , really !!! the business and I would highly recommend the Bull & Swan , we stayed for my partners birthday and although we did not eat in the hotel the friendly staff was lovely at breakfast and on arrival , however we did have to find someone free at the bar to show us to our room, so no check in area, which was not a problem, the room was heaven lovely white, crisp sheets and soft towels . lots of drinks to choose from and the furnishings was great to we could not fault it .......! SO HAVE A NICE TIME AND YOU MUST POP ACROSS THE ROAD TO THE GEORGE HOTEL ITS GREAT TOO !!!!!

My partner and I stayed here as we were going to a comedy gig in Peterborough. It also coincided with the Valentine's day weekend, and I cannot think of a nicer place to spend a romantic weekend away.

We stayed in the 'Wild Horse' room, which was beautifully appointed, massive bed, fluffy towels, good tea/coffee making facilities, and even a complimentary organic rhubarb nightcap! The bathroom was not ensuite, but was across a tiny landing, which could be separated from the other rooms by a heavy curtain. The bathroom was very large, massive shower, claw foot bath, double sink, the refurbishment has been done to a very high standard.

We returned to the Bull and Swan quite late, and although the bar was practically empty, we weren't made to feel as though we were preventing the staff from leaving, they were all very polite and accommodating. Breakfast was in the Bedlam dining room, and again was of a very high standard, although we both had the full English, there was plenty of alternative hot choices.

I would definitely stay here again, for longer if possible!!

An amazing surprise -they market themselves as providing "quirky luxury" and they do. Enthusiastic (not overly so) young staff, who are unfailingly poilte and helpful.
Good last minute offers. Wonderful breakfast and a fabulous dinner (see seperate review).
Lovely bedroom reached up our own stairs, I particularly enjoy having a roll top bath in the bedroom. Very nice, unusual toiletries, and a complementary rhubarb liquer as a nightcap.
Had a good nights sleep and awoke refreshed and rested.
Really a rather special place. Good car parking at the back, and a friendly welcome in the pub downstairs. Excellent escape.

Recently taken over by Hillbrook Hotel Group and what a difference! We had lunch there and all locally sourced food. Service and atmosphere impeccable. Real fires make it the cosiest place to have a pint or meal. Didn't stay in the any of the rooms, as local. Though as I am currently looking at wedding venues, I had a look round the bedrooms. As the Lady Anne's hotel is being refurbished by the same hotel group, so potential wedding venue. The room are luxurious, huge beds with white linen and dark Indian furniture with a modern twist- flat screen TVs, drench showers. A must for anyone visiting Stamford.

Well what can i say, having been in stamfrord for 7 years i have seen the pub go through several different owners, but now i believe that the place is back on track!!

The decor suits the pub and the atmospere is chilled and full of chat and people generally enjoying themselves...A good range of real ales, wines and spirits and you have to try the homemade scotch eggs on the bar which tempt you they are AMAZING!!!!

The food is traditional pub food with a twist and by god it works....tasty, beautifully presented and very reasonably priced!!! Underheard of in stamford...The service fits the pubs friendly, organised and effcient staff but laid back which gives the whole pub that sort of vibe!!

Again will definately return to be a regular of the pub...Well done to mamagement and all the staff at the Bull and Swan!!!

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
Once upon a time there was a drinking club at Burghley House. It was founded by The 5th Earl of Exeter in 1684 and it was called The Honourable Order of Little Bedlam. It had an eclectic bunch of members: The Baptist Earl of Gainsborough was known as Greyhound, The Hon Charles Bertie was The Stag and The Earl of Denbigh was Tyger amongst other nefarious characters. They would have drunk locally brewed ales, feasted on Burghley Estate and other local produce and created total bedlam. Things have a habit of coming round and we are delighted to invite you to dine on our local produce, sup our fine ales and obviously behave very, very well! ... more   less
