This hotel has some very good points: the hosts are a lovely couple (friendly and attentive); the breakfast was excellent; the location of the hotel is quiet, and overall, what we paid was good value for money. So four big ticks in the box :-)

Areas for improvement: we felt the family suite we had was not the cleanest, and neither was the dining table (old food crumbs in the grooves). The photos on the hotel's website give the impression the interior is quite contemporary and fresh, but the reality is that some of the fixtures, fittings and decor (in the family suite) are 'tired' and in need of replacing, especially the toilets. Our mattresses really needed memory foam 'toppers' because you could feel the springs. We are pet lovers but do not remember the hotel's website mentioning the owners have a resident dog and cat; we would not have been impressed if we were allergic to pets or phobic of them! Upon our exit, we saw new guests arriving with a dog, and going upstairs, so pets must be allowed in at least one of the rooms.

We found this wonderful little hotel by chance after deciding on an impromptu overnight stay at Skegness and we couldn't of been more pleased. The hotel itself is lovely; clean, beautifully decorated, spacious room and a fabulously comfy bed. Its in a fab, very quiet spot though only a short walk to the centre. The hosts are such nice people, we were made to feel very welcome, greeted with refreshments when we arrived.
The breakfast was spectacular and of the best quality, plentiful and wonderfully cooked.
I can not recommend this lovely place enough...a real hidden gem!

Nothing is too much trouble for Wendy and Paul. They are the perfect hosts. The food is amazing and the service is out of this world. We go with my family which includes two little boys. Wendy goes the extra mile for my boys. When we come back to the room, Wendy sets up teddy bear picnics with the boys' toys on the bed. They love coming back to see where their toys will be. We can't say enough about this lovely guest house. We go to Wendy's twice a year and love it. Highly recommend Caxton House.

Stayed two nights with a group of friends that had arranged exclusive use of the guest house.A warm and friendly welcome - nothing was too much trouble. The food was fantastic (locally sourced) and the rooms comfortable. We plan to return as a family knowing that our fussy eater son will be accommodated. Lots to do even in January and with variable weather.
