Just come back from a 2 night stay and feel a little let down to be honest.
We paid £160 for the 2 nights and were told that was at a discount from the usual rate for a family room. Working out what it would've cost for a full 7 days surprised me as we recently went all inclusive at a 4 star in Ibiza for more or less another couple of hundred pounds.
The hotel was dead, and I mean dead. Not a sign of any other guests, and as for seeing any staff, forget about it. We saw two girls at breakfast and that was it apart from the two times we were fortunate enough to drop on the owner by sheer chance.
We came down for breakfast on our second day and the restaurant was empty, but our cooked breakfast appeared a minute later, so how long it had been sat there waiting for us is anybody's guess.
There is a bar, although why I have no idea, as it wasn't open once. If it's not gonna be open on a night during the carnival weekend then Christmas must be the only time they dust the pumps off for the turkey & tinsel crew. We were told to go next door to the Grosvenor for a drink, which we did, but begs the question again. Why have the bar in the Queens if it's not being used?
We reported that the window in our room would shut but not lock. We were assured that nobody would come in through it, but we were more concerned about our 5 year old falling out of it. Not that we take our eyes off him, but we'd rather not take the chance. The owner also assured us that it would be looked at the following morning. It wasn't. In fact we didn't see any staff at all during our visit, apart from (as already mentioned) the restaurant staff at breakfast.
Also, with the amount they charge for the rooms you'd expect something a bit more modern. There was no toilet roll in the bathroom, we had to run down to the public bathroom to get one for ourselves. We had to move a bed up against a wall and there was just a build up of dust and dirt that we were disgusted with. Don't know if the the cleaners have had their jobs explained to them, but unless the owner speaks Polish I would imagine they just do what they think is right. Also, there are no rooms cleaned on a Sunday apparently. But would it kill them to change the towels in the bathroom? It's a job that takes less than a minute to do. They obviously have the money to spend on them.
That parrot they keep down by the door does have a tendency to whistle early in the morning too, so you've been warned.
I'm not saying this is a bad hotel. I'm just saying that for what we paid, we expected a little more than what we received here.
