The location is fantastic, we had a nice sea view room and its literally a minutes walk from the main shops/pubs/amusements. Our room was spacious, had plenty of tea and coffee, milk etc. The room was nice and warm.
We didn't opt for breakfast so cant comment on that.
The owner was friendly and helpful and not patronising or strange as I've read in other reviews on here and on Booking.com where we booked. She welcomed us with a smile, explained the basics and kindly showed us to our room and we got a friendly goodbye in the morning. Thankyou!

I stayed here with my son in summer last year. We booked for three nights and booked for another night when we arrived. I am only writing this now as i have looked at the reviews and dont like what is being said. Amanda was the perfect host. Really chatty and friendly. Room was really clean and it was cleaned daily. Amanda was so nice she saw my son took a liking to her dog oscar and even let him take the dog for a walk. He was happy to play with the dog in the hotel too. Amanda did not mind at all. Now that to me is not someone that is 'odd'. she works very hard and gives 110% to her customers. Will definately ve going back this year and cant wait.

This family run guest house is right on the sea front, with most rooms having excellent sea views. We have found the welcome to always be friendly and forthright. As for the front door lock, not all locks are the same so it is a plus point the the owner shows their guests how to use it correctly.
Rooms are clean and pleasant with the quality of meals being good value with pleasant service.
Will be coming again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend

just returned today from spending one night b&b at the woodthorpe, we booked and then read the reviews, was dreading it, expecting a fire breathing dragon, got there and amanda was outside to greet us, was very friendly, showed us our rooms, she said anything u need, let me know and hope u have a good stay, we booked the four poster rooms overlooking the sea, fantastic views, rooms were nice, very clean and bedding was crisp white and lovely, same as towels, ensuite fine, loo and shower, someones review said the place was old and rundown, well most of the b&b's in skeggie are old properties, its expected, we wernt shown how to lock the door and amanda never came across as being bossy, rude or odd as some people have said, in the morning she cooked us the best breakfast ever, as much as we wanted juice, cereal, bread, toast etc, she came in and chatted, asked if we liked our night out, a lovely lady and we would deffinately stay there again, please take no notice of negative reviews, someone will allways be picky for no reason, one of the nicest ladies we have met and the best food we have ever had.

Room Tip: the two rooms at the front with four poster beds were great, overlooking sea and great views of ligh...

Upon reading other peoples reviews on this hotel,i was a bit dubious about booking in,but i'm glad we did.It was in a fantastic position, close to town centre, beach etc...The owner was very friendly, and welcoming, rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable, but the best thing for me,was Oscar the dog! Just adorable. So don't be put off by negative reviews,it's great.

Great location, 100 yards from all the action in Skeggy. Never been there before just wanted a place to sleep for one night to have a look at the town etc. Our room was fine, but the decor was old and needs upgrading. The owner needs to understand that communicating properly with guests to ensure a good stay is essential. She was strange to say the least. This is my home she said and lectured us on how to lock the door. We are 65 years old and have locked a few doors in our time. She took us to our room but did not offer any words of advice about Skeggy or offer any help at all. As we were not having breakfast that was the last we saw of her. To be honest we were glad to get away from there as she gave you an uneasy feeling. Hard to describe it exactly. We were off to an early start anyway so did not bother to track her down to thank her for her hospitality.

Room Tip: Don't bother find another place to stay. Anywhere else would be preferable
