“Really great stay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 February 2014

Regular visitors over the years, we had a lovely stay. The refurbishment of the hotel has brought it up to the 21st century. Sunday lunch was excellent - great food at a great price. Super Sunday deal a great bargain. All staff were very polite and helpful. All in all, well done The Vine!

Over the years my husband and I have stayed at most of the top hotels in Skegness, we usually stay 2 or 3 nights 4 or 5 times a year, We have stayed at the Vine on 4 occasions in the last 18 months, we were there on the day it came under new management and I can honestly say it has had improvements on each visit since. Our recent bookings were for my birthday 2 weeks ago and for Valentine's Day and the following day, The function room for Valentine's evening meal was gorgeous and we and our guests had a lovely meal and a great evening. We had the honeymoon suite room 23 it is a very warm quiet romantic bedroom with a separate lounge, and nicely decorated. Our favourite room though is room 1 as my husband struggles with stairs; it is a large room well-appointed and nice view over the front of the hotel. From the moment of arrival all the staff are most welcoming, the receptionist is always pleased to see you, the bar staff eager to please and the lady in the breakfast hall, (I think she is Polish, the staff do not have name badges and I have not asked her name), but she always has a warm welcome and a lovely smile for you each morning. The food is always nice with a choice of freshly cooked breakfast meals. The 2 bars are full of character and very comfortable with open fires and great bar meals. We have booked for the New Years package this year and look forward to visiting again soon. When we look for a hotel room in Skegness now we always ring the Vine first and if room 1 is available then we stay there.

Room Tip: Room 1 is a large room but you are over the entrance so noise when local customers leaving. Room 23...

We recently used the function room as a venue for our baby's Christening. Prior to the day I liased with Jess to make the arrangements and she was fabulous. Very professional and catered to our budget. We decided to provide a Sunday dinner rather than buffet for our guests and it was delicious. The day went very smoothly and that was down to Jess and her team of excellent people who couldn't do any more to make us comfortable. They all went above and beyond what we expected. The venue was clean, stylish and neutrally decorated in a modern way.

We would without a doubt both recommend and use The Vine again for a venue. Thank you to all.

I've stayed in Skegness many times for work over the last few years, and have stayed in a few different places, but the vine was the best by far. The room was lovely and plenty big enough with a very nice bathroom. The room looked like it had recently been decorated and was also very warm.

I have eaten at the vine before but didn't have time on this visit but the food is usually very good. I was slightly disapointed that breakfast didn't start till 7.30am as I had to be on my way before then so had to get breakfast elsewhere.

The staff were really friendly and happy to help

Just got back from a night at the Vine, our booking was done for us, we were disappointed with our room a little on the small size, we asked if we could upgrade as we didn't mind paying extra, a lovely girl on reception gave us two other rooms to look at but one felt cold with a wooden floor and well the other was covered in silver paint, we are a little old in the tooth for such a silver room. We stayed where we were first booked into, which was right at the top of the hotel and up some steep stairs. The room was small but very warm and comfortable, didn't eat at the hotel as we would have liked an Indian meal but that restaurant was closed for a month, bar was comfortable after a long walk into the town and breakfast was nice and hot. Would stay again but in a bigger room.

Thank you for your comments, it is always a pleasure to receive them. I am sorry your room wasn't quite to your liking and the others we had available was also not to your liking. Each of our 25 rooms are individually designed so I hope on your next visit we find one more to your liking. We look forward to welcoming you back to the Vine in the very near future

Stayed here on business for a couple of nights this week. The building is old and interesting. From the moment you walk in you are met with a very high level of professionalism. I stayed in room 1 and it was very spacious and decorated to a high standard. Lots of extras in the room which most chain hotels usually miss. As for the food, I had breakfast and evening meals here and they were both to an extremely high standard. One of my pet hates is no provision made for smokers but that is not the case here with a perfectly adequate shelter provided. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anybody wishing to stay in Skegness.

I once stayed hear many years ago, and it was terrible. It is now under new ownership, and has been through a massive upgrade. The rooms are most tastefully furnished and more than comfortable. The attention detail is evident throughout the building.

The restaurant is of the highest standards, with a very well planned menu. The recently introduced Indian cuisine which is outstanding. The bar also has a excellent and creative menu. Many of my local friends are regular customers and speak most highly of the restaurants and are regular customers.

My congratulations to the management for the superb job they have and are doing.

I will return

Room Tip: One small problem is that as it is a old building there isn't a lift that could be a problem for...
