Stayed here recently with family and were suitably impressed from the minute we walked in to get booked in. We were welcomed by the brilliantly bubbly Paula (the co-owner) who explained where our rooms were and even though were still fairly young, apologised for being on the top floor, not a issue for us...Directed us into the lounge with the lovely décor and huge comfy sofas whilst we ordered the next mornings breakfast and were given our keys. As we have family living locally and knew the area well we didn't needs as much local info as Paula was prepared to give us, a mine of information and extremely useful to people never having visited before. Off up to the rooms and get settled, beautiful thick carpet underfoot, plenty of room on landings to manoeuvre suitcases and bags, little personal touches here & there, our expectations on rooms were high at this point and we weren't dis-appointed, we had the top floor rooms..what can I say, fabulous light & airy rooms, plenty of windows, tea & coffee making facilities, flat screen tv, plenty of drawer and wardrobe space (in fact more than I have at home) full size bath in the en-suite bathroom, again lovely and light and more towels than you could shake a stick at, plenty of storage again for toiletries etc. Lots of plug sockets dotted around the room, ideal for when you need the hairdryer and straighteners plugged in and cleanliness, never seen anything like it and we've stayed in some pretty posh hotels around the UK that could learn a thing or two here also, considering we were less that a 2minute walk from the hubbub of the seafront there was virtually no noise in the evenings and whilst I know its wasn't main season, the town was still busy as the weather was fantastic. Breakfast the next morning worked like a well oiled machine,- finally got to meet Steve, Paula's husband and co-owner, lovely cheeky chappy and equally as friendly as Paula, a lovely couple - coffee already on the table waiting, all the cutlery that would be needed, cereals, toast and your breakfast choice on the table within minutes of arriving in the dining room, plenty of options from Full English to Vegetarian options, we both had the Full English and it was fantastic, certainly didn't need food again until early evening, breakfast took us around 35mins and by the time we went back to our room, it had been cleaned, beds made and fresh towels back in the en-suite, seriously impressed at this point, check out was equally as impressive and didn't really want to go home.
You often wonder when you book places having never stayed before what you're in for and as there aren't many reviews on here were a touch sceptical but it wasn't worth the bother.....this lovely little gem on the East Coast deserves a 5* rating and certainly not the 85th ranking it has on here....Book for yourself and see, you wont be dis-appointed, I promise you.
