My wife and I spent 4 days at the royal last week, we were very lucky with the weather, he plumbed for an upgraded room, which as small lounge opening on to balcony bedroom and bathroom. plenty of room, the staff really were nice and helpful.
What I like about this hotel apart from the excellent value for money is that it is a proper hotel with plenty of sitting areas. there are two restaurants and the foodis served efficiently in a friendly manner, good value wines and excellent breakfast. Like any hotel there is room for improvement, agree with comments about litter on balcony, I would prefer no pets but understand this is a difficult one, overall very good, they do try to please.

Room Tip: check on location of rooms, go for rooms over looking sea

We stayed 1 night with our dog and booking was on line via my phone only 10 mins before we arrived. Simplicity itself. No dog questions like, 'Is he big? Hairy? Noisy?' Nope, just, 'Yes. We can accommodate your dog.' Excellent! Even though our dog is a big and hairy Labradoodle but very quiet and placid.
Our room was compact but very cosy and clean with an en-suite. Only 2 down sides. 1, Our tv reception wasn't great but we were away for the weekend so didn't really care. 2, the downstairs loos didn't have toilet roll in. This is a MUST in the ladies in my opinion.
Otherwise, FAB! Staff lovely, Indian restaurant awesome, location great!

this a old hotel very nicely upgraded it is full of history ,officers were billeted here during world war 11 all lounges bars dining rooms are tastefully decorated the bedrooms are not so good ours was very small ,we were suprised because we payed extra, the balcony was covered in cigarette butts they were also on other balconies, the room was very warm and clean, the bollywood resturant is excelent great food at value for money . the breakfast is one of the best buffet with eggs cooked as you like the royal is not far from skegness the hotel has lovely gardens overlooking the sea the staff are very helpful its not the old run of the mill british hotel ,we will be back.

Room Tip: rooms on the front have lovely overlooking the sea.

Just back from Music Tribute Weekend at the Royal.....What is there left to say that I have not commented on in previous reviews? Once again 100% service from Anat and her A team at the Royal so professional and friendly nothing is too much trouble if you have a problem it gets sorted pronto..catering was once again first rate ....congratulations to the chef and all the kitchen staff you can be proud of your 5 star food, which once again was top quality and cooked to perfection The artist that were on this weekend (Tom Jones and Elvis) were very good and ensured that everyone had a great time and both soon had the feet tapping and everyone having a great nights enterrtainment. So be proud all of you who are involved with the smooth running of the Royal you all do a fantastic job and all of you contribute to the winning formula that is evident when anyone stays at the Royal.

Wasn't too sure what to expect after reading other peoples reviews, but cannot complain at all. The room was more than adequate, clean and comfortable, with a really large bathroom. The breakfast was buffet style and of a high standard. The main restaurant offers excellent food at a really reasonable price. We were there for a family gathering and were really pleased with the whole experience. It was also our first time in Skegness and loved the town. It's a gem of a place and we will certainly be paying a return visit.
