“First trip to Lincolnshire.”
Reviewed 20 October 2013

My husband and I went on a Caledonian coach tour of Lincoln and we were based in the Sun Hotel. We found the staff to be very pleasant. Both the hotel and our room were spotless. The food was excellent with a good varied menu. We were in room 4 which has a side window with no view and we had no complaints at all about it but, the guests who had front rooms said they were lovely with balconies. There was bingo every night which was not our scene but the entertainment which followed the bingo was very good. The girl on the Tuesday night made it a real party night and had all the guests mingling. The hotel is in such a good spot. The putting greens and crazy golf are directly across the road and the pier and gardens are about 3 minutes flat walk away. Skegness is a very vibrant seaside town with all the expected attractions. We were pleasantly surprised to see illuminations. The place was lovely all lit up at night. As the hotel is right on the front it was a nice ambience sitting at the outside tables with our night cap, from the very well stocked wee bar. ( we were lucky enough to have 5 warm, still days! ) No complaints at all from us!

Room Tip: Some front rooms have balconies.

we are just back from a stay at the sun hotel on a Caledonian coach trip. this is a lovely hotel and the staff are very accommodating. I agree with the last reviewer about the first night soup being a packet soup mix but I can not agree with everything else. on the first night I told the waiter that I was diabetic and he ordered a diabetic ice cream in for me to have over the rest of my stay I think this is excellent service !! the rest of the meals were very good and don't see what anyone could complain about the staff went out of their way to help. we had a lovely room at the front of the hotel (room 7 ) with a large bed and walk in shower in the bathroom the only problem we found with the room was when the entertainment was on (the Tuesday night) it was as loud in our room as it was in the lounge which was directly below us I don't know why they had to be as loud as it is only a small lounge bar on the other nights entertainment (thurs) the singer was a man and he was not as loud and he was really good and very entertaining. we spent a really enjoyable 4 nights here and I would recommend this hotel the food and staff are great

The hotel was pritty average nothing to great, room was very clean and nicely set however there was no shower and the pressure of the water to run a bath wasn't great. The staff were very friendly especially manager Mark. Where as waiting staff were very under trainned and not very good at dealing with requests. Food was terrible on the first night the soup was definetly a packet dried soup more like a cup a soup the other 3 night dinners were ok nothing to great. Overall it was an average experience and the hotel was very small.

I stayed at this hotel for one night with my mum, I was pictures online and wasn't expecting much from it. However when we arrived we were greeted by a lovely young man who check us in, very friendly and polite. We had a double room and was lovely. Looked very modern, clean, bed was so comfortable I didnt want to get out of it. Lovely big window overlooking the sea front, plenty of storage just a really lovely room. Friday evening there was a singer in the lounge who again was brilliant, not just singing but jokes and great entertainment, including bingo. There is a small bar which was great after a few drinks we went to bed. In the morning we were asked if we wanted cereal before the full English breakfast but went for the cooked breakfast only. A lovely pot of tea and orange juice, staff again were friendly, polite and just very nice. Lovely breakfast, lovely bedroom, great staff. I just want to say some reviews mention you have to pay for extra tea and coffee in your room this is correct, however there is plenty to start with and if you need extra 4 tea bags cost 10p. (People just trying to find fault) overall this is a great place to stay I have no bad comments to say. I will be booking here again in the new year. Thank you all so much.

Just had a 5 day break here and although booked thro' national holidays we self drove. We were met by Tina and Mark who were very welcoming. We had room 6 which had a nice sea view and the added bonus of a balcony, bathroom was small but adequate and we cold have done with a few extra drawers, but hey, it was comfortable.
The food throughout the week was exceptional, plentiful, and always hot, we had the traditional roast every night of lamb, chicken beef and pork,, and the lovely full english breakfast, and each one was as good as the first.
Only entertainment on 2 nights, (shame) so we went down to the Savoy which was just a few yards down the road, (they are open to non residents), I have to say that Rick Roberts in the Sun Hotel on the Thursday night was brilliant, a real all round entertainer !!
I heard a few whinging about their rooms but can't comment on that as most seemed happy. So overall it was a good break in a well located hotel, I should also mention Dean the Manager who was there to help out in any matters and was very pleasant.
So don't hesitate, get to Skeggie, enjoy the hotel, and the resort !!

Room Tip: Get a sea view room, as a few have balconies, we had room 6, which was fine.
