This was a National 5 day trip for our group of 11. (it should have been 12 & our Jackie was greatly missed due to ill health). It was our first time at the Sun hotel and we found it very friendly, with the staff most obliging to our needs and wants. From sitting us all together to dine to providing extra bedding and shelving and even moving rooms. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was good and wholesome and plenty of it. Bingo on every night and a turn on for two nights.
Plenty to do locally as its only a bus ride to Fantasy Island and the market and two minute walk to the local shopping area. National provided two day trips so we were kept pretty busy. Should we return to Skegness in the future we would certainly think of staying at the Sun Hotel again.

Room Tip: Only one lift and very slow so request lower floor rooms if stairs a problem.

The Sun Hotel was clean with the staff friendly. The food was average but as the deal with Caledonian Travel was not expensive, it was what could be expected. Room 12 is to be avoided if you are claustrophobic. It is a small single with an exceptionally small shower en-suite. The TV is located on the wall above the wardrobe and can only be reasonably viewed by sitting on the bed. That is after having to make adjustments to the brightness/contrast etc so that it could be viewed at all! There is a chair in the room but it is facing the wrong way for viewing and too large to move. Surface space is very limited especially in the shower room - had to leave toilet bag on top of the cistern with little space for toiletries to be unpacked. The one good thing about the shower was an adjustable riser - important for me as I am short. Decaff tea and coffee were available on request in the dining room but none in the room. The entertainment was way too loud. The acts who are on need to learn how to adjust amplification for the size of the room in which they are performing. It was totally intrusive for those who chose not to be deafened in the lounge bar. One older gentleman ( wearing hearing aids) and situated on the 3rd floor could still hear it all and I had to put the text on my television - turning up the volume so that I could hear it would have undoubtedly only resulted in annoying other guests.
On the whole an average hotel but as part of a package coach deal was not overpriced.

Room Tip: If you are tall or particularly broad avoid Room 12 at all costs

Upon reading the review I was disappointed that none of these issues was raised whilst you where staying at the hotel, as we try are best to rectify any problems. But after reading through your other reviews it seems that problems tend to follow you whichever hotel it may be.

We would like to thank you for your comments on the cleanliness and staff being good and friendly. We were rather disappointed to hear that you thought our food was average as we try to pride ourselves on good home cooked food, but after all it is a matter of opinion.

Room 12 is a standard sized single room and meets all required ETC standards, as for the en-suite the shower is a standard sized shower tray that would be purchased for any domestic bathroom. In regard to the location of the TV I would like to apologise for the location as this has now been rectified and is now in a more suitable place. As for the storage space in the bathroom, the bathroom consists of two shelves, toothbrush holder and soap dish, We believe that this is sufficient storage for all toiletries.

In regard to the entertainment, It is hard to find the right balance between to quiet and a to loud. But once again this is all a matter of opinion. Normally we don't receive any complaints about the level of sound from the entertainment as guests normally participate in enjoying the entertainment. But for those who wish to be away from the entertainment their is a lounge located on the ground floor with comfortable seating so you can enjoy a little quiet time.

On the whole we would like to thank you for your review and comments that you have raised.

Just had a lovely three night break with friends. We had rooms 7 and 10, both of which had big windows with great views. Room 7 being on first floor and room 10 on the second. There is a lift, but we didn't use it. Our rooms were lovely and clean with plenty of room and a lovely big comfy bed. Staff are very friendly and would like to thank Dean for his help with my laptop. Nothing is too much trouble for him as is the same with all the staff. Breakfast was very well cooked and not greasy. We asked for some more toast, which we got and next day we didn't have to ask for it, they brought it out, which I thought was nice. There was no entertainment on the Thursday or Friday night, but we did use the bar when we came back from an evening out. Saturday night was bingo, which we don't play, but was nice just to sit in the bar. They also had a quiz, which was good fun. The one thing which would be nice, would be to have a coffee in the bar. We found it strange that they don't serve tea or coffee. Otherwise a great stay and would definitely return there again.
