Stayed in the sun hotel for the weekend for a friend's birthday in skegness. Was lovely throughout.

Beds really comfy. Nice balcony and view of sea and pier.
Breakfast was spot on.
Nice bar area down stairs with a good pint of lager priced good.

Overall would return here and defiantly recommend as it's the right price and right location

Stayed for 1 night £60 . Room at side of hotel ,bath but shower attachment did not work.New heater in room but brick dust on skirting where they drilled. Holes in wall where shelf had been refitted numerous times.Wardrobe door would not open fully as it hit TV. At breakfast told we could not sit in restaurant as this was reserved for national holiday clients. Breakfast was luke warm as everything already cooked, in Bain Marie ,if you want fresh eggs you have to wait. Treated as 2nd class clients to national holidays even though we payed more for the night.
No one available for check out. Will not return.

What you see is what you get at the Sun Hotel. No frills, just plenty of good, honest fare. As a single traveller, I am used to poor rooms overlookin dustbins. Here I was given a double room with en-suite bathroom, and windows that faced towards the sunset, so the double bed ( very comfy) was bathed in the evening sun. The hotel is quite large, but it is run rather like a family-run guest house, or b&b, which makes it rather homely. The food is not fancy, but it's good and wholesome - and plenty of it! And where else these days will they individually fry you eggs while you wait? As a tourist guide I get sick of seeing a tray full of anaemic, tiny eggs gone cold and hard. Not a chance of that happening here! My eggs were fresh - and large! A family-run hotel, with daughters helping out, so what if they are a bit rough around the edges? What a refreshing idea: no waiters in white hovering over you, no small meals that leave you even hungrier. The food is just like mum makes it: stacked up with of gravy, and the ice cream comes in huge portions, and the custard is to die for. The girls bring it, they take your orders and they are helpful. I think it's endearing to be served by a girl wearing a t-shirt that proudly proclaims "MORE SELF LOVE" than a pinny and name tag. By the way, you can always trust a hotel that insists every table has both Heinz tomato sauce AND Heinz HP brown and both bottles are full! My advice: if you want a swanky hotel look elsewhere; if you want something down to earth like "back home" then give the Sun a try.
