Owner description: Situated in sixteen acres of historic walled and landscaped gardens, Wentworth Garden Centre is arguably the biggest and most attractive centre in the North Midlands. Its setting, in the former Kitchen, Italian and Japanese gardens of Wentworth Woodhouse is unique. We are not a member of any buying group or garden centre chain. We are a long standing, family owned independent and as such care passionately about our customers and their satisfaction. It's a policy that has seen the centre evolve from a tiny village operation into one of the largest garden centres in Yorkshire today.

Beautiful garden centre selling everything you can imagine, with a lovely gift shop too. We had lunch in the walled garden restaurant it was very good would highly recommend it. We had the steak pie with new potatoes and fresh veg the steak was in big chunks and very tender was sorry when I had finished it. Beautiful cakes too .wish this place was close to our home would be there every weekend for lunch. The gardens are lovely too and with fallow deer being an extra bonus. We went into the bear pit too, don't know if they were used for dancing or fighting but there is a large round pit type garden close by which may have been used .

Magnificent scenery. Stylish gardens kept in great shape and condition, lots of secret places, excellent for families as children have safe place to run, hide, discover. It is also a great place for people who like history and nature. Wheelchairs and buggy accesible. Parking before the entrance.

I am a regular visitor to Wentworth Garden Centre with my Grandson which is a fun few hours. There is always plenty to do from the little Farm to the Gardens which are progressing all the time. We love the Maze which is not too daunting for youngsters then sit by the little ponds ( they could do with weed clearing out though & maybe some fish?). Restaurant is always busy, however the service is quick and delicious food... So spend some time at Wentworth you won't be disappointed.

Dear Jillypom

Many thanks for the very kind review and I'm glad you (and your family) enjoy you visits to the garden centre.

With regards to the ponds, duckweed and blanket weed is cleared from them on an almost weekly basis throughout the Spring and Summer months (indeed it was done yesterday) however warm weather triggers 'blooms' of these two problem species and often within the week the ponds can be completely covered again.

We have never looked to introduce fish to our ponds as we actively encourage native species (frogs, toads, newts, dragonflies etc) whose offspring would be predated by fish, additionally the fish themselves would be easy pickings for our local herons.

Hopefully this makes the situation clearer and I look forward to welcoming you back to the garden centre in the future.

Kind regards, WGC

We have visited wentworth garden centre today. We had lunch in the resturant which was very tasty. Then had a wonder round and came upon a farm. The farm is £2.50 to get in and under 2 s are free. My daughter loved it. Best £2.50 ive spent in a long time and after all that animal watching and exploring a piece of cake was in order so back to the resturant we went for coffee and cake. A lovely afternoon out was had by all.

I am privalidged to live within walking distance of the amazingly picturesque village of Wentworth. It is a must visit for any gardener to wander around the well stocked garden centre. The grounds also offer any young family a lovely day out with the animal centre and play area.. The Restraunt / cafe have a five star offering of meals snacks and of course cakes.
The village itself has lots to offer for those who like to take in the walks and partake in a drink in the local pubs.
