Sunday lunch has never been as good as it gets here!! I very reluctantly share this information in fear of Sundays selling out! Easily the best Roast option in Colchester!! Staff is lovely and the beautiful Tudor pub feels ancient and welcomes you.. I go there every Sunday if I can!! Ps. The best sticky toffee pudding on the planet! More

This hotel is beautiful. We turned up at reception and found out id booked the wrong night, but the lady in reception called cassie I think was amazing she called the booking agent and changed it over. The room we had was the superior room and was so nice. The shower was nice and the bath too. The bed was lovely and the tea and coffee facilities were perfect. We had a drink downstairs in the evening too which was nice too.

We'd been clacton to the beach and planned to visit Frinton beach the next day. As it was a bank holiday weekend it was proving very difficult to secure last night accommodation. We weren't disappointed, staff are really lovely.

Traditional comfort in the oldest hotel in Colchester.
Mind your head ! - the beams are genuine and very low.
We had an executive double room on the first floor, overlooking the road, which meant it was a bit noisy until the traffic died down.
Friendly bar with good value meals.
Breakfast was disappointing, the chef couldn't do eggs - we tried poached, scrambled and fried during our three days, but the pancakes were delicious

Excellent stay at the Rose and Crown this weekend. A warm greeting from reception awaited us. Our room was very good, clean and tidy and in keeping with the rest of the hotel. There was ample complementary tea, coffee, milk etc in the room. We ate dinner at the hotel which was equally enjoyable.
