Stayed for 5 nights during September, during those 5 nights the chef was late to cook breakfast on 2 occasions at 7 am, all the staff were very pleasant and friendly both in the hotel and restaurant/bar and the food was nice, the only down side for me was the cleanliness of the room, empty coffee sachet on the floor when i arrived, bathroom handle loose cobwebs in corners and dust/fluff on the walls around the extractor fan, which needed cleaning out. Both bedside lights on one side of the bed didn't work.

I stay here from time to time on business and find this hotel has real character being such an old building. Rooms vary considerably and it helps if you know which are the better ones to ask for as some can be quite cramped. Generally though, the rooms are quite comfortable. The restaurant for evening meals though is just a pub serving typical pub food albeit with quite an extensive menu. For breakfast there is a reasonable buffet selection with the option of a cooked breakfast if required.
