5-10 mins walk from city centre. Family hotel, clean and comfortable, bigger than it appears. Owner very helpful and one minor problem with shower was rectified immediately. Breakfast was delicious served by a very friendly young lady. However despite the 4* AA Rating on the door, it felt more 3* B&B to me than hotel. No complaints though other than room small and lacked any character. Perfect for one nights stay. Enjoyed attractions in Carlise - visit to Tullie House a must!

Room Tip: Ask for room away from front of hotel. Scotland Road is VERY busy and can be quite noisy even with w...

I was walking Hadrians' Wall and this hotel is well sighted for taking the bus to the start and also for begining the second day. Owners and staff friendly and helpful. Rooms and beds comfortable and I had a room on the side which was quiet. It's possible that those on the front could be affected by traffic noise as Scotland Road is very busy. Breakfast was excellent but dinner was a bit limited ie only two courses available and not a lot of choice.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the side if you particularly don't want the traffic noise

The room we were allocated was excellent. Very clean. No Wi-Fi, something you really do expect these days. Our welcome got off to a bad start as the receptionist told us we would not be able to eat there as they had a party of 11 eating at 7.15. After a long discussion she offered us eating at 8 and then we agreed 6.30! It was all very negative. After a long 14 mile walk we did not want to go out and eat. The food was satisfactory, but nothing to shout about. the same goes for breakfast. Felt that the staff were very nervous and that they seem to panic at the slightest thing. Conversations often started with a negative from the staff which is never good. Shame as location for Hadrian's wall is good. Room was spacious as there were 3 of us sharing and very clean.

We have just returned from 3 lovely nights at the Angus. Rooms were very quiet and ensured a good night's sleep. There was plenty of room for our dog who was welcomed too. The room was clean and had plenty of space for hanging/ storing things. We were along the side of the house and so it was quieter. The breakfast downstairs was lovely in the morning with a good selection, and a perfect start to a good walk to the lakes. We went to the north lakes 1 day and Hadrian's Wall the next and both were withing 30 mins easy drive. We were also 10 mins walk to Carlisle, where there were lots of lovely parks to walk the dog.

Room Tip: Rooms on the side I think would be quieter
