After a long journey from Cornwall we arrived later than planned. We were greeted warmly by Martin and Lorraine with a welcome drink. When we saw the apartment we were very pleased with the standard of accommodation and the effort they have put into the little touches and tasteful decoration.
Its and ideal location for the Lake District,Carlisle and easy access to the motorway.Dalston we found to be a quiet ,friendly village.
Highly recommended by us.

My boyfriend and i had the most amazing stay at the Hawksdale Lodge last weekend. Lorraine and Martyn made us feel so welcome (they offered us a glass of wine we arrived at 10pm!) and the apartment is gorgeous.

It perfect for 2 couples - lots of space with everything you could wish for in your own apartment. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the shower amazing.

The hosts did everything they could to make our stay comfortable and even gave us a lift to the wedding we were attending.

The apartment is in the middle of the country and we were felt like we were miles away from the city. I would definitely come and stay here again.

This delightful bed and breakfast/self catering apartment can not be beaten in Cumbria.

We stayed in the self catering apartment, which was beautifully decorated, immaculately clean and perfectly positioned to overlook the rolling countryside, while being no more than 15 minutes from Carlisle train station (some of us came by public transport).

Our hosts, Lorraine and Martyn, did everything in their power to make our stay as comfortable as possible, including driving us to the pub one evening, and leaving a welcome hamper of basics including home-grown eggs!

Situated on the Cumbrian Way, and just a few minutes drive from national parks, beautiful walks are not hard to find, and the wildlife comes right to your window.

I am sure the bed and breakfast would be of a similar quality, and would recommend Hawksdale Lodge to any couples, groups of friends and families alike.

We used Hawksdale Lodge as the base for our exploration of the Cumbria Way, the long distance path through the Lake District in Northwest England. The lodge is an architectural gem with a feeling of privacy yet excellent care from the hosts. Staying at the Hawksdale lodge would be an great alternative to staying in Carlisle and would be an excellent location for exploration of the region including Hadrian's Wall.

When we arrived on Saturday afternoon we were greeted with tea and delicious homemade cake, which was a good start! Martin and Lorraine are great hosts and for the next 2 days we were made to feel very welcome in their lovely B&B. The breakfasts are AMAZING - given we didn't want to miss out on any of the deliciousness we ended up having porridge, a cooked breakfast (with lovely fresh eggs), toast and hot cross buns and then freshly baked banana cake. Needless to say we did not need to eat lunch.... On the Saturday night we wanted to go to a local pub and Martin generously drove us and picked us up - which pretty much sums up the attitude these guys have to their guests, to make everything as easy and pleasant as possible. I highly reommend this place.

Unfortunately we could only stay one night at Hawksdale Lodge, we would have liked to stay for a week. Our ensuite room was large with beautiful decor and very comfortable bed, the hosts are super friendly and helpful and the food is superb.
There was no guest lounge with television and the television in our room was very small for the size of the room but otherwise we could not fault this B&B.
We would fully reccomend this B&B and we hope to return one day. Thank you.
