Description: This restaurant is part of Eden Golf Course. We visited for the first time last Sunday lunchtime and were delighted to find that it's a little gem in a tranquil and peaceful setting. The menu is varied and good value for money and the atmosphere is relaxed and chilled. Big surprise was the Cumbrian Tapas plate which featured all Cumbrian produce such as air dried ham, local cheeses, chutnies and lovely bread for £6.50. Postcode is CA6 4RA and telephone number is 01228 573003. It is open to the general public and not just members of the golf club - we are not members but had seen the place advertised and decided to give it a go.

Fairways Restauarnt at Eden Golf Club is an absolute gem. I use it on a regular basis for feeding the family and business lunches. It does both equally well, with great value, well prepared food, in lovely surroundings.
The chef can prepare snacks, or something much more substantial and fancy to a standard difficult to match in this area. The staff are pleasant and attentive, and the owners are always about ensuring that standards are maintained.
It's a great place - give it a try.....!

Stopped here while travelling between Scotland and NW England, following a few excellent reviews on the internet. We wanted somewhere nice to stop, rather than the usual motorway service stations. What a delight this venue is. Great service, tasty food, big portions and value for money.

After a number of different (and differing!) set ups, the current restaurant/staffing/ambience is excellent. The chefs are to be congratulated
on superb food, imaginatively presented, and with pleasing variety, and since its re-vamp the place looks great. It is a shame that they have lost some excellent staff earlier in the summer, but I guess that's the norm for catering. Would thoroughly recomment you try out for lunch, and book an evening meal when theyare able to offer the works.

The Fairways Restaurant is located within the Eden Golf Club between Brampton and Carlisle and is open to non-members. The setting is absolutely stunning with views over open countryside and onto the golf course. It feels so tranquil and has tables outside beside a river edged with bullrushes. The restaurant is inside the clubhouse. It looks newly built and is a big open space with large windows and exposed beams. Tables are big, heavy and wooden and there are lots of leather sofas and high backed leather chairs. A big open fireplace divides the room and must make the place feel really cosy in winter. The atmosphere is relaxed and not at all formal and we were made to feel very welcome - nothing was too much trouble.

We have dined at this restaurant three times now. The first time was on a Sunday lunchtime. The restaurant was reasonably quiet because it was in the middle of the World Cup on the day of an important match. The menu seems designed to suit every taste and on that day included a roast pork lunch, sausage and mash, Thai curry, steak pie and a Cumberland Tapas plate - amongst lots of other choices including various sandwiches, soups etc.

There was no children's menu as such but the waiter said they'd make our son whatever he wanted as long as they had it in the fridge. He offered burger and chips or sausage and chips - whatever he fancied.

I had the roast pork lunch. The thick pork slices came with mash, roast potatoes, asparagus and cabbage and everything was beautifully cooked. My husband had the Cumbrian Tapas plate. This was great and featured Cumbrian cheeses, a lovely air-dried ham and a roast ham, local black pudding, and pickles and various other bits and pieces. At £6.95 it was superb value for really excellent local produce.

The other times we visited were just as good. Reasonable prices for a great atmosphere in a lovely setting with friendly service. You get the feeling that this place is run for the benefit of the members and customers. It's been open for a while now and I only wish I'd discovered it ages ago.
